After The Soap Finales: Where Are They Now?
Catching up with the former Daytime actors.
Soaps.com has details for current projects for some former actors of Daytime cancelled soaps “All My Children,” “Another World,” “As The World Turns,” “Guiding Light,” “Knots Landing,” “Passions,” “Santa Barbara” and “Sunset Beach.” There are movie roles, a soap alum turned director, a sad passing, a music video appearance and more in this month’s after-Daytime column.
Jamie Luner in The Cheating Pact.
Jamie Luner , who played “All My Children’s” Liza Colby from 2009 to 2011, will appear in the new Lifetime movie “The Cheating Pact” on Saturday September 28 at 8:00 PM. Inspired by true events, the movie surrounds a group of high school students who cheat on their college entrance exams. Luner plays a counselor named Ms. Evans who ends up suspecting what’s going on in her school.
Donna Murphy in House Of Versace.
Donna Murphy, who played D.A. Morgan Graves on “Another World” from 1989 to 1991, has been cast in Lifetime’s upcoming movie “House Of Versace.” Murphy will play Maria, Versace’s longtime and trusted head seamstress. Tune in for the night-time movie on Saturday October 5. Please check your local listings for air times. Most recently, back on March 24, Murphy appeared as Diandra Sunderland on CBS’ “The Mentalist.”
Jeffrey Meek in The Search For Sophie Parker.
Jeffrey Meek, who played “ATWT’s” Craig Montgomery from 2006 to 2007, can be seen in the new Lifetime movie “The Search For Sophie Parker.” Starring Julie Benz (“Defiance,” “Dexter”) as Detective Stevie Parker, the movie is based on true events and deals with Human Sex Trafficking in Russia. 18 year-old Sophie Parker goes on spring break to Moscow with her friend Janie Hillman, who’s the daughter of the American Ambassador to Russia. Boy-crazy Janie convinces reluctant Sophie to sneak out of the U.S. Embassy and head to a nightclub, where they are drugged and abducted by a Russian sexual slavery ring. This sets the path for Sophie’s mother’s (Benz) quest to move heaven and earth to save her daughter. It first premiered on Saturday September 21 but can been seen again on Lifetime on Wednesday September 25 at 8:00 PM and Thursday September 26 at 12:00 AM. Look for Meek to play a New York City detective and love interest of Benz’s character.
Ryan Serhant in While We’re Young.
Ryan Serhant, who played “As The World Turns'” Evan Walsh/Frank and currently stars in Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing: New York,” has been cast in Noah Baumbach’s new Indie film. The Wrap is reporting that the producer’s are keeping Serhant’s “While We’re Young” role hush-hush at the moment. The film follows a married couple’s friendship with an unlikely younger couple and stars Ben Stiller (“Arrested Development”), Naomi Watts (“Diana”), Amanda Seyfried (“Big Love,” “AMC’s” ex-Joni Stafford, “ATWT’s” ex-Lucinda Montgomery), Adam Driver (“Girls”), Charles Grodin (“Beethoven” films) and Adam Horovitz (“30 Rock”). Of his new role Serhant tweeted:

Jai Rodriguez in The Trail Of Light And Dark video.
Former Daytime alum Jai Rodriguez (“Days of our Lives'” ex-Matteo, “One Life To Live’s” ex-Andrew) is featured in Susan Toney’s music video for “The Trail Of Light And Dark.” The country singer’s new single is available on iTunes. Watch the video below for Rodriguez’s cameo.
Victor Garber and Michelle Forbes in The Hunters.
“Guiding Light” alums Victor Garber (ex-Detective Frank Minnelli) and Michelle Forbes (ex-Dr. Sonni Wells) will appear in the Hallmark Channel’s original movie “The Hunters.” Please check local listings for times and tune in on Friday October 25. Garber will appear as Mason Fuller, with Forbes as Jordyn Flynn, in the story about a family of archeologists who go in search of fairy tale artifacts hidden around the globe.
Matt Bomer in Space Station 76.
Cast alongside such actors as Jerry O’Connell, Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson, former “Guiding Light” alum Matt Bomer (ex-Ben Reade) will appear in the upcoming comedy “Space Station 76.” Viewers can expect personalities and asteroids to collide in the 1970’s version of the future. Since his Springfield role the actor has appeared on “Chuck” (Bryce Larkin) and most recently on “The New Normal” (Monty) and “White Collar” (Neal Caffrey).
Guiding Light fun fact: Paul Wesley.
Paul Wesley may be currently headlining one of the CW’s most popular Primetime shows as Stefan Salvatore on “The Vampire Diaries.” However, the actor has Daytime roots to CBS as “Guiding Light’s” former Max Nickerson, a role he played from 1999 to 2001. Julie Harris passes away at 87.
On August 24 Julie Harris, who will be forever remembered by her fans for playing Lilimae Clements on "Knots Landing" from 1980 to 1987, passed away at the age of 87, due to congestive heart failure. Her longtime friend Francesca James ("AMC's" ex-Evelyn Johnson) was with Harris at the time of her passing and told the Associated Press, "I'm still in sort of a place of shock. She was, really, the greatest influence in my life." Having played "Knots Landing's" ex- Joshua Rush, Alec Baldwin wrote a public farewell to Julie Harris and shared, "Her voice was like rainfall. Her eyes connected directly to and channeled the depths of her powerful and tender heart. Her talent, a gift from God." Prior to the Primetime soap opera, Harris appeared on the popular series "Bonanza," as well as in "The Name Of The Game," and on "The Love Boat," to name just a few of her numerous acting credits. Juliet Mills in From Here On Out.
Juliet Mills ("Passions'" ex-Tabitha Lenox) is taking part in the new Here TV (America's only premium LGBT cable network) production "From Here On Out." Mills will play receptionist Dottie Cooper as the story follows a gay writer named Jimmy Richards who finally sells his television show to the president of the premium cable network. Other actors cast include Terry Ray (who also wrote the script), T.J. Hoban ("Perception"), Michael Lanham ("Dinner With Ana") and Suzanne Whang ("Dexter," "GH's" ex-Carol Chang). Stay tuned to Here TV for the production's upcoming release.
Ryan McPartlin to Hart Of Dixie.
"Passions''" fans will remember Ryan McPartlin as Hank Bennett (2001 to 2004). The actor is heading to Primetime and has been cast in season three of the CW's "Hart Of Dixie." McPartlin will play eligible bachelor Carter Covington, and viewers will watch as he charms the ladies of Bluebell. Tune in for the season premiere on Monday October 7 at 8:00 PM.
Robin Wright directs episode of House Of Cards.
Robin Wright, who is best known in the soap world for playing Kelly Capwell on "Santa Barbara" from 1984 to 1988, will direct a season two episode of "House Of Cards." Wright also played Claire Underwood during season one. Season two, containing thirteen episodes, will air on Netflix sometime in 2014.
Emily Harper in Bachelorette Weekend.
It's been five years since we last saw Emily Harper as "Passions'" Fancy Crane. The actress will be appearing in the November 2013 release "Bachelorette Weekend" as Sloan. The dark comedy will show what happens when what was supposed to be a fun weekend goes horribly wrong. Just imagine a "bridezilla, one dead stripper, and one day to cover it up."
Heidi Mueller enjoys some mommy/daughter time.
Heidi Mueller will always be remembered by Daytime fans for her five year role as Kay Bennett on "Passions." These days the actress enjoys spending time with her daughter, Savanna, who was born on June 20 weighing in at 5lbs 13oz.

Laura Harring in Ice Scream.
Laura Harring ("Sunset Beach's" ex-Paula Stevens) will play Wendy in the upcoming film "Ice Scream." What starts out as a man's simply gesture to buy his girlfriend some ice cream turns into a confrontation with two bullies and a day he'll never forget. Harring has appeared in many Primetime series since leaving Daytime behind in 1997 and might be remember by some fans for her role as Elizabeth Fisher on "Gossip Girl."
