While their characters battle for power in the boardrooms and bedrooms, their portrayers will help battle autism in real life on the sand. In cooperation with USA Volleyball, several daytime celebrities will participate in the 6th Annual Jayo Invitational Celebrity Pro-Am beach volleyball tournament to raise funds and awareness to fight autism.

The tournament will be made up of six-person corporate teams which will include one celebrity host and one professional volleyball player who will serve as team captain. Throughout the course of play, each team will have the option of renting more pro players by making a donation to the cause. To date, the corporate teams will be sponsored by Whole Foods Markets, Time Warner, Vox Entertainment (the event’s producer) and Ameriprise Financial.

Founded and organized by Jason Olive (ex-Frank, Passions & ex-Frankie, All My Children), the Jayo Invitational will see current and former daytime stars playing in the sand including, Winsor Harmon (Thorne, The Bold and the Beautiful), Lesli Kay (Felicia, B&B), Galen Gering (Luis, Passions), James Hyde (Sam, Passions), Lamman Rucker (ex-Thurgood, As the World Turns & ex-Garret, AMC) and more!

The professional volleyball players set to participate include, 2000 Gold Medalist Dain Blanton, Hermosa Beach Open winner Albert Hannemann, Manhattan Beach Open winner Dax Holdren and Olympian Jenny Johnson Jordan.

Aside from shining a spotlight on autism awareness, the Jayo Invitational will also promote a healthier and cleaner environment, by featuring an eco festival sponsored by Whole Foods Market, with cooperation from fellow sustainable companies including Natural High, O.N.E., Sambazon land Guayaki Tea.

The event will take place at Dockweiler Beach in Manhattan Beach, CA on August 23rd. A kid’s clinic will kick off the festivities at 10:00 AM with the celebrity pro-am tournament to follow at 12:30 PM. There is a $30 charge for fans and/or interested parties who want to “Volley for a Cause,” however it is free for spectators.

Soaps.com wants to wish everyone a fun day in the sun! To find out more about the event, including how to sign up to play with your favorite celebs and pro-athletes, visit the Jayo Invitational website.
