Soap Veteran Beverlee McKinsey Passes Away…
Beverlee McKinsey will leave her mark.
Soaps.com has learned that we have lost one of daytime’s biggest soap veterans. On May 2 2008, 72 year old Beverlee McKinsey, passed away due to complications resulting from a kidney transplant. The actress started out in soaps playing the role of Martha Donnelly on Love is a Many Splendored Thing in 1970. Most known for her eight year run on Another World as Iris Cory Carrington from 1972 to 1980, Beverlee went on to appear in the show’s spin-off, Texas, from 1980 to 1981, on Guiding Light as Alexandra ‘Alex’ Spaulding von Halkein Thorpe from 1984 to 1992 then finished her daytime career on ABC’s General Hospital as Myrna Slaughter in 1994. Beverlee also appeared in many primetime hits as well including The FBI, The Mod Squad, Hawaii Five-0, and The Defenders. McKinsey also appeared in films such as The Reevers and Bronco Billy.
A great actress, McKinsey was nominated for four consecutive years from 1977 to 1980 in the lead actress category of the Daytime Emmys. She received six Soap Opera Digest Award nominations in addition but despite her talent, didn’t take home the awards.
Soaps.com sends our deepest sympathies out to McKinsey’s family, her son Scott and grandson Marley, as well as her friends. She will always be remembered for the mark she made in daytime.
