90s in Llanview…
The 1990s in Llanview had residents traveling to far off places, finding themselves in danger, the first teenage gay character was introduced to Daytime, loved ones were lost and new siblings found. Here’s a few of Soaps.com’s favorite moments of the 90s…
Mendorra continued to hold a place in storylines, and the royal battle between the country’s brothers Prince Raymond and Roland Hohenstein had Sarah and Megan held captive as Prince Roland’s latest prisoners. The girls had arrived in Mendorra to help Prince Raymond, who’d gone blind while rescuing Megan from a fire. Debra, Cassie, Dorian, Bo and Cord came to their rescue, where Bo posed as Raymond, who planned to make Sarah his wife. After the wedding, everyone escaped, leaving Mendorra’s brothers to fight to the death for the throne with Raymond winning back his place in the royal family. Here’s a scene from the goings on…

Megan went on to fall in love with Jake, and though they, like many in Daytime, overcame numerous hurdles to find each other again, Megan's lupus won out in the end. What was said to be one of the most emotional Llanview deaths, Megan took her final breath and died in Jake's arms. Relive the moment below…

Billy Douglas, friend of Joey Buchanan, came out as the first gay teenager in Daytime. At the time, Marty Saybrooke was Llanview's party girl and spread rumors that Andrew Carpenter had molested young Billy. Andrew stood tall and fought against the town's backlash in the name of his gay brother, who had died of AIDS. Andrew went one step further and tried to help Marty. It wasn't until one drunken night when Marty was gang raped, with Todd Manning as the leader, did she take a path toward making a better life for herself. Take a look back at the controversial scene that affected many in later years to come…

While Marty went off on a wildly romantic adventure with her soul mate, Patrick, it was revealed that Todd was actually Viki's brother through Irene and Victor Lord. Many tried to claim the position in the family, one being David Vickers, but Todd soon took a special place in Viki's heart. Other great characters of this decade included villain Carlo Hesser, Drew Buchanan, Rae Cummings and one fan favorite who made it through the show's end, Tea Delgado. Kevin tried to warn Tea of the years of verbal and physical abuse ahead, if she went through with the five million dollar marriage of convenience to Todd - but she replied, "I love Todd." Kevin was right… This union turned out to be one of the most abusive relationships in Llanview's later years…

Another touching storyline from the 90s was when Jessica lost her virginity to Will Rappaport - after debating having sex with her longtime boyfriend Cristian Vega. Jessica became pregnant and unfortunately, just as she went into labor, Dorian accidently ran down a pregnant Jessica, who lost her baby girl as a result. Watch the scene unfold with Erin Torpey as Jessica…
