One Life to Live actress makes her presence known on soap cancellation.

Updated June 13: The next rally that has been planned will be nationwide. On Monday June 20 soap opera fans will be protesting outside of ABC Studios and Disney Parks across the country. On May 17, fans are invited to gather today in front of New York City’s Lincoln Center for the latest soap rally from 2.00 PM to 6.00 PM Eastern. “One Life To Live’s” Ilene Kristen (Roxy), former “As The World Turns” actress Colleen Zenk (ex-Barbara) and veteran soap opera journalist Mimi Torchin will also be on hand for the protest. Yesterday, April 27, fans all over the United States rallied around various ABC studios in support of “One Life To Live” and “All My Children,” which are both set to go off the air for good in January 2012 and September 2011. Catherine Hickland (ex-Lindsay Rappaport) was in attendance and tweeted, “A Disney employee yelled out to us “read a book!” Will we be without compassion when he loses his job? I hope not #souless? Read a book? Excellent idea! Not support their parks, TV shows, DVD’s, movies, etc. Now there’s a man who knows how2promote his company! NOT.”

Catherine blogged about the cancellation and stated, “Soap actors and audiences dance a dance. We laugh together, cry together, survive together and love together. That’s what makes a family. Whenever I would hear you-know-who make a speech and call us the “ABC family,” it made my skin literally crawl. You don’t treat your family like they don’t matter. Someone is counting on the fact that today you are all whipped into a frenzy, and that tomorrow and next week you will have forgotten and forgiven. Say it loud. WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE OR FORGET.” Incidentally, the cops were called to the ABC studios in New York, where one fan rally supporter, “Xanderdash,” tweeted, “The Police don’t even give a damn. Their chillaxing!!” We’ve also included a photo taken by “Xanderdash” of the fans outside the ABC Studio gate.
