Soaps.com has scoop below about the stars who have also appeared on Guiding Light and The Young and the Restless.

Star Wars Resistance Honored

The Saturn Awards were handed out on September 13 at The Avalon in Hollywood, with Christopher Sean’s (Paul Narita, Days of our Lives) show Star Wars Resistance winning Best Animated Television Series. The Saturn Awards honor the best in science-fiction, fantasy and horror in television, film and theater. In the series, Sean voices the main character Kazuda Xiono who is tasked with spying on the First Order for the Resistance. Star Wars Resistance’s season two will premiere on the Disney Channel on October 6.

Ad Astra

Sean Blakemore (Shawn Butler, General Hospital) can be seen in the upcoming sci-fi movie Ad Astra. The film centers around Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) who stars as an astronaut who travels through space in search of his missing father (Tommy Lee Jones, Just Getting Started), whose 30-year-old expedition is now threatening the universe. Ad Astra also stars Liv Tyler (Harlots), Ruth Negga (Preacher), Donald Sutherland (Trust) and Kimberly Elise, who is also starring in a Christmas movie with General Hospital’s Anthony Montgomery. The movie premieres September 20.

Little Fires Everywhere

Deadline is reporting that Obba Babatundé (Julius Avant, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Jaime Ray Newman (Kristina Cassadine, General Hospital) have been cast in Little Fires Everywhere. Based on the novel of the same name, Hulu’s limited series “follows the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives.” Babatundé plays George Wright, the deeply religious father of Kerry Washington’s (Scandal) character, who makes tough choices when his daughter’s decisions conflict with his moral code. Newman will play a gynecologist working for Planned Parenthood whose views on motherhood conflict with those of the friends she grew up with. The series premiering in 2020 will also star Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies), Rosemarie DeWitt (The Last Tycoon) and Joshua Jackson (The Affair).

Dancing with the Stars

The newest season of the reality dance competition will premiere on Monday 16 on ABC and will feature a soap opera alum. Best known for his role as Dawson Leery on Dawson’s Creek, James Van Der Beek had a 1995 role on As the World Turns as Stephen Anderson. Van Der Beek will be competing against fellow celebrities including model Christie Brinkley, the most recent Bachelorette Hannah Brown, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, former NBA star Lamar Odom and more. His professional partner has not yet been revealed. Van Der Beek was most recently seen in season one of the FX series Pose as well as voiced a character in Disney’s animated series Vampirina.
