GL’s Frank Dicopoulos to be Honored by the HTSF
Dicopoulos joined the cast of in 1987 following an unlikely career path. Before turning to acting, he was an athlete and had plans to become an orthopedic surgeon. After graduating from college, he found himself in a variety of roles, such as hosting On the Move for ESPN and The Miss Teen America Pageant. It wasn't until 1984 that he found his way into the soap world and became a featured actor on Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, General Hospital and Young and the Restless before arriving on Guiding Light where he has successfully played one of the most consistent and well-loved characters in recent memory. He has also served as an ambassador for the show, representing it at fan meeting and charity events. His daughter, Olivia, recently joined the cast as Emma Spencer.

Frank Dicopoulos (Frank Achilles Cooper) will be getting some much deserved recognition next weekend. The actor will be honored with the Humanitarian, Artistic Achievement Award by the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund at its 17th Anniversary Gala this year. Beyond his role as a positive representative of the Greek community, the veteran actor is being honored for his volunteer work with organizations such as the Wildlife Rehabilitators, Monmouth Land Conservation Foundation, Skin Cancer Foundation, the “Hands On” Project, Monmouth County S.P.C.A., Young Women’s Breast Cancer Foundation, Duke University Children’s Hospital, Marlboro Educational Foundation and The Jimmy V Foundation. In addition to Dicopoulos, former Guiding Light star Melina Kanakaredes, who, of course played Frank’s wife Eleni, will also be on hand as a presenter. The Bold and the Beautiful star Constantine Maroulis will be serving as the guest host with performances by Alpha and Sister Sledge.
