At the Metro Court Gardens, Chase and Brook Lynn decide to duck out of the party to talk. Before they can, Linc shows up and has something to say. Chase remembers Linc and wonders what he wants. Linc says he may not be Brookie’s producer any longer, but they have unfinished business. Brook Lynn wants nothing to do with him, and Chase tells him to scram. Linc asks Brook Lynn if this is her boyfriend, and she says yes and he’s a cop. He tells Chase he has a good voice and recognized that song, which he can’t wait to produce. BLQ exclaims she’ll never work with him again. Linc reveals that’s a shame because he owns her songs per her old contact. Anything she wrote while he was her producer belongs to him. He’s been shopping her songs around, and he’s closing in on some deals. She asks with who, but he won’t give that information up unless she signs with him again. Chase says that won’t be happening, and BLQ echoes that she’ll never work with him again.
Linc thinks they can both benefit from this, and he underestimated Brook Lynn’s talents. Linc suggests she come to his room, and they can explore things further. Chase clenches his fist and warns Linc to back down, but it’s Brook Lynn who decks him. He jokes he likes it rough, but only to a point. Chase suggests he leave. Linc tells BLQ to call him when she cools off and walks away.
Chase asks BLQ why she did that as he was going to punch Linc himself. Brook Lynn says Linc is her problem, and he’s almost off suspension. She won’t let him blow things on her account again. He thanks her for having his back.
Chase inquires if Linc really owns her music. She notes it could be possible as she had stars in her eyes when she signed that contract. She wonders why every time she thinks her life is on track something happens. Chase takes her hand, which is hurting and asks to help her. She says he could find her an ice pack, and he smiles at her. As they get close, BLQ realizes she has to contact a lawyer. She won’t let Linc get the best of her again and rushes off leaving Chase standing there.
Curtis checks in with Portia at the hospital. She cries she’s glad he’s there and hugs him. She fills him in on the Title 9 investigation — she’s worried for Trina. He promises that they will get Trina through it. Curtis changes the subject and tells Portia that he stopped by to tell her that he’s leaving to go after Marshall. However, he realizes now he can’t go with this Title 9 investigation ongoing. She asks why he suddenly wants to go after him and asks if Stella told him something. He states Marshall wasn’t the only one lying to him.
Curtis reveals to Portia that Stella and his mother both knew Marshall was alive and let him and Tommy believe he was dead. Portia guesses that Stella was probably doing what she thought was best, and she and his mom were likely trying to protect him. Curtis wonders why Stella didn’t tell him when he got older. Portia says maybe she never expected Marshall to return, and she thought it would be kinder not to tell him. She asks if he’s never let something go on for so long that he doesn’t know how to make things right. He assumes she thinks that’s what he’s doing with Marshall. She urges him to go find Marshall and notes the hearing isn’t for another 10 days. He doesn’t even know where to get started looking.
Jordan drops by and asks if Curtis has spoken to TJ. Curtis asks about what? She reveals he and Molly went to Brooklyn because they think Marshall might be there.
Molly and TJ are at a Brooklyn restaurant and meet with Mr. Purdy, who runs the repair shop Curtis used. He claims he doesn’t think he can help TJ because the story he told him over the phone doesn’t ring any bells. TJ shows him the clarinet, and he remembers working on it. TJ asks if he can put them in touch with the owner, but he insists he doesn’t know the guy. He reveals he has a lot of customers and can’t remember them all. TJ explains they are looking for his grandfather, and it’s important they find him. He begs Mr. Purdy to help them find Marshall.
Purdy asks how he ended up with the clarinet. TJ reveals Marshall left it to him and shows him the note he also left. Mr. Purdy admits he knows him, and he goes by Marshall Parker around these parts. He thinks TJ must be special if he gave the clarinet to him. He hasn’t seen him in a while, but he’ll ask around about him. TJ thanks him and gives him his number. Purdy promises to deliver the message, but it’s up to Marshall if he wants to get in touch with him.
Later, TJ gets a call from Curtis. Curtis knows where he is and asks if he wants some company. TJ inquires why he’s had a change of heart about his father. Curtis doesn’t want to see Marshall walk out of their lives again, he’ll head to Brooklyn and they can find him together.
Back at the hospital, Jordan goes into the hall to report to someone over the phone she’s at GH and checking on Officer Pullman’s status. She goes back into Portia’s office but hightails it out when she sees Portia and Curtis kissing. They eventually come out of the office into the hall.
Curtis tells Portia that he’ll be back in time for the hearing. He takes off, but not before thanking Jordan for telling him about TJ. Jordan tells Portia she’s happy to see Curtis finally has the family he’s wanted since he was a child.
At the restaurant in Brooklyn, Molly is glad Curtis will be joining them, but wonder what should they do in the meantime. TJ suggests they go to the jazz bar around the corner. He jokes what if they ran into Marshall playing there. Suddenly, Marshall walks through the door and looks at TJ.
