Marshall Suffers an Apparent Heart Attack While on a Date with Epiphany — and Liz Opens Up About Her Parents to Finn
Tuesday, January 18, 2022: Today on General Hospital, Drew gives Curtis some advice, Portia pushes Terry not to give up on dating, and Brando reaches out to Sasha.
At The Savoy, Curtis fills Drew in on the fact that his dad implied he was in witness protection and shut him down when he asked for more details. Drew suggests perhaps Marshall isn’t telling him everything because he cares about him. Drew says witness protection is either for informants or rats and if he digs into Marshall’s past then it could signal to the wrong person that his dad has resurfaced. If Marshall was in witness protection, Drew suggests it’s a sign of trust.
Brando runs into TJ at Sonny’s gym. After working with the bag, Brando opens up to his friend about Sasha, who won’t talk to him about Liam. TJ says people grieve in different ways, and maybe she needs to grieve privately. Brando worries that Sasha isn’t grieving at all and fears she has no outlet for her emotions. TJ suggests she may have one that she hasn’t shared, and maybe this is really about what he needs from Sasha. TJ has to run to work, but the two hug goodbye. Alone, Brando checks his phone and sends a text to someone.
In the yoga studio, Gladys spots Sasha, sits next to her and says they can be yoga buddies. As Sasha tries to meditate, Gladys goes on and on about work. Sasha suggests they talk about work later and focus on mindfulness. Gladys pushes Sasha to open up to someone, and knows she’s been keeping Brando at arm’s length. Sasha says everyone copes differently, and she is sorry she’s not crying on her or Brando’s shoulders. Gladys points out that Brando is grieving too. Sasha feels this was a mistake and heads out.
Maxie and Felicia grab a spot far across the room from Gladys. Felicia admits she saw Peter and tried to find out if he knew where Louise was. Maxie tells her mother that he doesn’t have a clue. Felicia knows that now and says he’s desperate to reunite with his daughter. Felicia recalls the nasty things he said to her, and she knows she’s let Maxie down as a mother. Maxie assures her mom they are in a different place now.
Felicia tells Maxie the way she’s handled Peter and her daughter going missing, it shows strength, and she calls Maxie her hero. Maxie assures her mom that she’s not as strong as she makes her out to be. Felicia wonders if that’s why she doesn’t want to go back to Pautuck and retrace her steps. Maxie blurts out that she’s not going back to that cabin ever! She excuses herself to get some water and takes off.
Maxie runs into Sasha outside the studio and Maxie vents about how her mother keeps pushing her to focus on the worst day of her life. Sasha completely understands, noting how everyone wants to dictate how she grieves. Maxie tells her to do what she needs to do to get through the day, but don’t push Brando or Gladys away as one day she’ll need them. Maxie returns to class and her mom. Sasha looks at her phone and sees a message from Brando inviting her over for dinner. She ignores the text and goes back to class.
Dante and Finn help Brook Lynn and Chase move into Jax’s old place, which he isn’t even charging them for. Brook Lynn and Chase bicker about where all her stuff will go, and Finn jokes they are already acting like an old married couple. Chase reminds his brother that he has a date with Liz to get to. Finn notes he’s right and he needs to change and get to the Grill then heads out. Brook Lynn makes her way upstairs to change and feed Bailey
Alone, Dante asks Chase what is really going on with him and Brook Lynn. Chase insists they are only co-parenting Bailey and that is it. Dante knows Brook Lynn can be trouble, but she has a good heart, so he understands why Chase might be having feelings for her. Chase exclaims that nothing can happen between them because there is too much at stake.
Brook Lynn listens from the background as Chase tells Dante that letting himself fall for Brook Lynn would be a mistake given all he’s heard about her past. He also doesn’t know if he’s Brook Lynn’s type and vice versa, and he doesn’t think he can trust her when she can’t recognize the truth if it was looking her in the face.
Brook Lynn enters the living room and asks Dante if he wants to stay for dinner. He politely declines as he needs to get home to Rocco. After Dante leaves, Brook Lynn tells Chase that she thinks he should go. He wants to help her set up Bailey’s room, but she reminds him that he’s not Bailey’s father and he’s only there to protect Bailey. She tells him to go live his life, workout, or do whatever. Exasperated, Chase grabs his jacket and says he’ll be back in a few hours.
At the hospital, Terry and Portia tell Liz, who is in a dress, how great she looks. Liz can’t shake the feeling that if they go out on this date that something bad could happen. She tells them about her wedding ring mysteriously appearing in her locker, and Portia says perhaps she’s been overworked and overlooked the ring. Terry and Portia urge her to get out of there and go have fun.
Liz eventually leaves, and Portia and Terry talk about their own love lives. Terry says she’s explored the apps, but she’s getting nowhere. Portia asks for her phone, and Terry hands it over. Portia downloads an app and sets a profile up for Terry. Terry swears this is the last app she’s going to sign up for. Later Terry smiles as she gets a ping on her app.
At the Port Charles Grill, Marshall and Epiphany enjoy dinner. He asks her why she decided not to become a doctor. She tells him that her high school guidance counselor pushed her more towards nursing than becoming a doctor, and it was a very different time then. Marshall notes back then there were few female doctors, especially ones of color.
Liz arrives and sees Epiphany with Marshall. Epiphany introduces Liz to Marshall then Liz leaves to wait for her table and Finn’s arrival. Marshall can see Liz and the other nurses are more than Epiphany’s colleagues, they are her family. He also can see how proud being a nurse makes her, but it doesn’t mean he can’t try something new
Finn makes his entrance and he and Liz grab a table. It’s been a while since either has been on a first date, and they joke this is the time where they are supposed to ask the awkward get-to-know-you questions. They throw examples out there, and when Finn asks, “Do you get along with your parents,” he quickly nixes that question. Liz opens up and says she always got along with her mom and dad. However, after one particularly difficult summer working for Doctors Without Borders, they shipped her off to live with her grandmother. Her parents haven’t given her much time or thought since. She says Franco used to try to fix things between them, and it was one of the few things they fought about. She apologizes for bringing him up and is trying not to live in the past.
At their table, Epiphany changes the topic and asks Marshall what put a strain on his and Curtis’ relationship. Suddenly, Marshall stands up, grabs his chest, and falls over. Liz and Finn rush to aid him.
At the hospital, Finn and Liz carry Marshall in, followed by Epiphany. TJ and Portia rush to help and get him into an exam room.
Back at the Savoy, Drew gets a text from Ned hounding him about the ELQ shares, so he must take off. He advises Curtis to take time when it comes to his father as he doesn’t have to make an immediate decision. Alone, Curtis gets a call from Portia asking him to come to the hospital because it’s about his father.
On the next General Hospital: Sam asks someone about starting over, BLQ admits to Chase that she didn’t want him to leave, Finn asks Liz to continue their date, Carly vents about how messed up things are, and Sonny exclaims, “That’s the worst thing I could do!”
