General Hospital alum to host long running entertainment news program.

It was recently announced that Matt Cohen (Griffin Munro, General Hospital) will join Entertainment Tonight as a full-time correspondent and co-anchor during the program’s weekend show. Cohen previously served as a guest correspondent for Entertainment Tonight interviewing actors on sets and red carpets. The former soap opera actor has talked with the cast of CBS’ Why Women Kill – Lucy Liu, Ginnifer Goodwin and Kirby Howell-Baptiste – the judges of The Masked Singer talent competition – Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong – as well as the leads of Supernatural – Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki – about the ending of their show. As Soaps.com reported, Cohen guest-starred in the latter series and will also direct an episode in Supernatural’s final season. Of the promotion from guest to full-time correspondent, Executive Producer Erin Johnson said in a statement, “Matt is full of charisma and curiosity making him the perfect ET correspondent. We loved working with him so much as a guest correspondent this spring and summer that we had to make him a full-time member of the ET family.”

Aside from his Supernatural and Entertainment Tonight duties, Cohen joins a slew of other daytime alum in Hallmark’s upcoming Christmas movie season. He will be seen in the upcoming Holiday Date. Premiering on The Hallmark Channel on December 22, the holiday movie also stars Brittany Bristow (No Sleep ‘Til Christmas, Royal Matchmaker). Of the movie, he posted on Instagram, “@britbristow @terylrothery and I are making funny, happy things happen over here!” The versatile actor also directed his wife, and Days of our Lives’ former Chelsea Brady, Mandy Musgrave in the short film Mama Bear.
