John Stamos Cast in The Little Mermaid Live as Chef Louis
GH alum in live ABC production of a Disney classic.
John Stamos has landed a role in ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney presents The Little Mermaid Live!. Soaps.com can confirm per Variety that General Hospital’s former bad boy rock star Blackie Parrish will play the French cook Chef Louis in the televised event. Stamos joins Graham Phillips (Broadway’s 13; Atypical) as Prince Eric, Auli’I Cravalho (Rise) as the titular character Ariel, Queen Latifah (Star; Hairspray) as sea witch Ursala and musician Shaggy (The Wonderful World of Disney) as Sebastian the crab. The live production will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Disney’s animated film about a mermaid who makes a bargain with a sea witch to become human and fall in love. Music and lyrics from the original film as well as the Tony-nominated Broadway musical will be featured.
Stamos previously played Chef Louis during a live production of the film The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl. His other stage credits include Broadway’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Best Man, Nine and Cabaret. Stamos also recently reprised his role of Jesse Katsopolis for Netflix’s Full House sequel Fuller House, played Dr. Nicky in the TV series You and Dr. Brock Holt in the series Scream Queens. His musical talents (which include singing and playing the drums and guitar) have extended to performing with John Fogerty and The Beach Boys.
The Wonderful World of Disney presents The Little Mermaid Live! is ABC’s first foray into live musicals. It will premiere on November 5 at 8:00 PM EST. Will you watch?
