With All My Children veteran Michael E. Knight set to debut on General Hospital on September 30 as a completely new character, Soaps.com decided to look back at his career and share fun facts about the actor that readers may not be aware of.

Michael E. Knight was born on May 7, 1959 in Princeton, New Jersey as Michael Edward Knight

Knight was educated in a boarding school, The Thacher School in Ojai, California. He later attended Wesleyan University where he earned a theater arts degree.

Michael E. Knight trained at the Circle in the Square Theatre in New York after graduating college.

4.

Knight has a scar on his chin which he got as a child when he rode into a mailbox on his bike.

Michael E. Knight’s first role was in the 1982 TV movie The Royal Romance of Charles and Diana playing Prince Edward.

Knight’s major breakthrough in acting came when he landed the role of Tad Martin on All My Children. He began in 1982, was part of the finale in 2011, and the online revival in 2013. He also plated Ted Orsini, Tad’s doppelganger.

As Knight’s career took off, he added his middle initial to his screen name to avoid receiving fan mail intended for David Hasselhoff, which was addressed to Michael Knight, the character Hasselhoff played on Knight Rider.

Knight was married to One Life to Live star Catherine Hickland (Lindsay Rappaport), who was previously married to actor David Hasselhoff.

Justin Bruening who played Michael E. Knight’s son Jamie Martin on All My Children would go on to play Michael Knight in the reboot of Knight Rider.

Michael E. Knight left All My Children in 1986 to pursue other projects, which included the starring role in the 1987 romantic comedy Date with an Angel.

Knight’s roll on All My Children earned him two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Younger Leading Actor in 1986 and 1987, and a third in 2001 for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Knight voiced the lead singer of the rock band Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, in an episode of MTV’s claymation show Celebrity Death Match.

Michael E. Knight played himself in two episodes of TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland.

Knight’s most recent role was on Young and The Restless playing Dr. Simon Neville from 2015 until 2016.
