Chris Van Etten’s Home & Family Appearance With Service Dog, Harley
General Hospital actor and former Marine visits talk show
Actor Chris Van Etten, who plays Chet Driscoll on General Hospital, has taped a segment of Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family along with his service dog, Harley and Soaps.com has the details. Van Etten and Harley will join hosts Debbie Matenopoulos and Cameron Mathison (All My Children’s Ryan Lavery) as well as Home & Family’s pet rescue expert Larissa Wohl for this appearance, which is set to air on the Fourth of July. Van Etten previously visited the talk show in 2016.
After joining the Marine Corps in 2009, Van Etten was deployed to Afghanistan, where his battalion was sent to one of the most dangerous areas for American forces. On June 13, 2012, Van Etten’s squadron was on a night patrol on a hill overlooking an Afghani village when an IED (improvised explosive device) exploded. This was followed by the detonation of a second IED during the response effort, and it was this second explosion that caused Van Etten to be severely injured and resulted in the loss of his legs. After the experience, Van Etten began modeling, acting, and became a motivational speaker as well. He was also reunited with Harley, who was his service dog overseas.
There are several organizations that help bring back retired military dogs and reunite them with their handlers for adoption, and raise funds for their transport home, including American Humane.
Van Etten debuted on General Hospital as Chet on November 8, 2017, and plays the brother of Risa Dorken’s character, Amy. He has also done a modeling campaign for Jockey.
Chris Van Etten’s segment of Home & Family will air on the Hallmark Channel on Thursday July 4 at 10:00 AM EST. Check your local listings.
