The labrum is a rim of soft tissue or fibrocartilage that surrounds the hip socket. The labrum adds to the stability of the hip by deepening the socket and protects the joint surface. It acts like a rubber seal to help hold the ball at the top of your thighbone securely within your hip socket. The labrum can tear as the result of an injury but is more often related to osteoarthritis and FAI (Femoroacetabular Impingement). Treatment options range from physical therapy, to the bone of the hip being recontoured arthroscopically, and in some cases hip replacement surgery. Monaco’s injury appears to have stemmed from a tear or injury, which she indicated in her Instagram post. Outside of GH she keeps in shape with routine workouts she shares on social media. Kelly Monaco also competed on Dancing with the Stars where took home the first ever mirror ball trophy back in 2005.

There is no word on whether Monaco’s surgery and recovery will impact her airtime. Soaps.com wishes her a speedy recovery.
