Daytime star to recur in new series.

Updated October 10, 2019: A lot of fans have been missing Billy Miller (ex-Billy Abbott, Young and Restless) on their screens as Drew Cain since Miller’s departure from General Hospital in August. However, they’ll be able to see the former soap opera actor as Alex Dunn in his latest project Truth Be Told when the series premieres on Friday December 6 on the Apple TV app. Soaps.com has included the official trailer below, released by Apple TV today.

Back on July 19, 2018 Soaps.com learned that General Hospital’s Billy Miller (Port Charles’ Drew Cain) has been cast in the recurring role of Alex Dunn in Apple’s upcoming series Truth Be Told, previously titled Are You Sleeping? Octavia Spencer (The Help, The Shape of Water) and Moon Bloodgood (Code Black, Falling Skies) are set to star in the series, while Brett Cullen (Devious Maids), Hunter Doohan (Westworld) and Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, True Blood) will recur alongside Miller, as reported by Deadline. Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds), Mekhi Phifer (Insurgent), Michael Beach (Dynasty), Tracie Thoms (The Devil Wears Prada), Haneefah Wood (Nurse Jackie) and Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) will also have roles. The show is being produced by Chernin Entertainment, Endeavor Content and Reese Witherspoon’s company Hello Sunshine.

The show centers around Poppy Parnell, played by Spencer, who is a relentless investigative reporter looking to uncover the truth behind a questionable decades-old murder conviction through her recently launched podcast. Caplan will play twin sisters Josie Buhrman and Lanie Dunn, whose father’s murder decades ago is the focus of the podcast. Paul portrays convicted murderer Warren Cave, whose guilt or innocence is the focus of Poppy’s podcast. Bloodgood plays Cath Min, Poppy’s best friend, and Miller plays Alex Dunn, Lanie’s husband. Cullen has been cast as the father of the convicted murderer’s character, Owen Cave. Doohan portrays a younger Warren Cave in flashbacks.

Truth Be Told is written and created for series by Nichelle Tramble Spellman. It’s based on the true-crime novel by Kathleen Barber and provides a unique glimpse into America’s obsession with true-crime podcasts. The show will challenge the viewer to consider the consequences when the pursuit of justice is placed on a public stage. Miller is not expected to exit GH, and will continue to work on the soap while filming the series. Soaps.com will keep you informed on how to watch Truth Be Told as the project nears release.
