Hayley Erin’s ‘The Perfectionists’ Canceled After One Season
General Hospital actress headed to primetime drama.
Updated September 29: General Hospital’s Hayley Erin’s (Kiki) show The Perfectionists has been canceled by Freeform after only one season. The show did not live up to the numbers garnered by Pretty Little Liars, which it was a spinoff of. The Perfectionists first season averaged 260,000 Live+Same Day viewers and a 0.12 rating in adults 18-49. Soaps.com will continue to follow Hayley Erin and report on the actress’ future projects.
On February 5, Soaps.com has learned that the premiere date for Hayley Erin’s (Kiki) new Freeform series The Perfectionists will kick off on Wednesday March 20. Check your local listings and watch the trailer, plus view photo stills posted by the actress, below…
Back on May 15, Soaps.com reported that Hayley Erin’s pilot The Perfectionists has been picked up to series by Freeform for 10 episodes. In regards to how this will affect her future playing Kiki on General Hospital, the actress told Soap Digest, “Contractually, legally, I can do both shows. It’s up to the powers of General Hospital and ABC to figure out if it’s possible. I’m holding out hope the stars will align and I’ll be able to do both. I have no intention of leaving General Hospital. I’ll be on it forever if I can!” Fans can expect the Pretty Little Liars spinoff to premiere in February 2019.
On March 9, we reported that General Hospital’s Hayley Erin (Port Charles’ Kiki Jerome) has been cast in the pilot for the upcoming Freeform drama, and Pretty Little Liars spinoff, The Perfectionists. Though there is no word if this will affect her GH role, the spinoff is based on the book of the same name by Sara Shepard and is being developed by I. Marlene King. Janel Parrish will reprise her PLL role of Mona Vanderwaal, and Sasha Pieterse will return as Alison DiLaurentis. Freeform’s official plot of the show is as follows. Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi. Further information on the plot from the book it is based on details that it revolves around the lives of five young teenagers who plot the killing of Nolan Hotchkiss, a popular and rich guy who used all five of them. The new set of liars don’t go through with it, but when Hotchkiss is found dead in the same way they planned, the group soon becomes prime suspects of the murder. They must find out who killed him, and why.
The show also has cast Sofia Carson (Descendants: Wicked World) to play Ava, one of the five main characters, and a trendsetting blogger and coder who strives to be a fashion icon. Sydney Park (The Walking Dead) plays Caitlin, another of the main characters. She is driven and thrives under pressure. The perfect daughter of two perfect mothers, one who is a senator. Eli Brown will play Dylan, a gifted cellist who grew up feeling judged in his small hometown and now feels the need to be the best in everything. Kelly Rutherford (Gossip Girl, and Sam on Generations) stars as Claire Hotchkiss, the matriarch of the Hotchkiss family and founder of Hotchkiss Industries and Beacon Heights University. Claire believes perfection is attainable and pulls strings to get what she wants. She is the mother of the murdered Nolan. Erin’s role in the show has not been revealed, and only described as a mysterious character.
Hayley Erin joined General Hospital in 2015, replacing Kristen Alderson as Kiki Jerome. She previously played Abby Newman on The Young and the Restless, and also has guest starred on Two and a Half Men, Modern Family, and NCIS. Last year Erin became engaged to Logan Luedtke.
