Bryan Craig’s ‘Grand Hotel’ Canceled After One Season

Updated October 1, 2019: Back on June 17, Soaps.com reviewed the premiere of ABC’s Grand Hotel and stated, “The ABC series provided great drama but needs more time to sell it.” Today, the network announced the cancellation of its freshman series starring General Hospital alum Bryan Craig (Morgan Corinthos) and produced by Young and Restless alum Eva Longoria (Isabella Brana), presumably due to the continued soft ratings. The season finale aired on September 9.
Back on December 12, 2018: Soaps.com can finally report that GH alum Bryan Craig’s ABC series Grand Hotel will premiere on Monday June 17, 2019. Check your local listings for times in your area. On November 19 we confirmed that Richard Burgi, who played Paul Hornsby on General Hospital, has joined the cast of Bryan Craig’s ABC series Grand Hotel. Deadline is reporting that Burgi will play the owner of the Finn Hotel Group, Michael Finn, a shrewd but charming Miami Beach businessman who will be nothing but trouble for the Mendoza family and the staff of the Riviera Grand. On March 8, we reported that General Hospital‘s Bryan Craig (Port Charles’ Morgan Corinthos) has been cast in the upcoming pilot Grand Hotel for ABC. The show is written by Brian Tanen (Devious Maids, Desperate Housewives) and is being produced by Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives, and Isabella Brana on The Young and the Restless). The pilot is being directed by Ken Olin (Thirtysomething) and is based on a Spanish series Gran Hotel, which ran from 2011 until 2013 in Spain and the UK. Grand Hotel is a drama which takes place in a Miami Beach hotel and centers on the family who owns the business, the staff who run it, and the explosive secrets they hide under the perfect exterior. News of Craig’s casting was reported by Deadline.
The show initially cast As the World Turns alum Roselyn Sanchez (Pilar Domingo; Devious Maids) as Gigi, Demián Bichir (The Bridge) as Gonzalo Cardenas, and Chris Warren (Jimmy Ramírez on The Bold and the Beautiful as Jason). Recently Anne Winters (13 Reasons Why) has been cast as Ingrid, a beautiful hotel employee who is seeking out a path to the rich and easier life. Craig has been cast as Javi, a no-filter playboy who loves to disobey his father. Also joining the show is Denyse Tontz, (Miranda Montgomery, All My Children) as Paloma, a smart, headstrong young woman determined to do what’s right for the family business, Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Game) will play Mrs. P, a no nonsense staff manager at the hotel, and Shalim Ortiz (Heroes) portrays Mateo, the Director of Guest Experiences.
Bryan Craig returned to General Hospital for the special episode centered on Ava. Since departing GH back in 2016 he has appeared on The CW’s Valor, which has since been canceled, and also in the film American Fighter.
