General Hospital actor to play Ernest Hemingway.
Updated January 12: Brandon Barash has shared a first photo of him in make-up as Ernest Hemingway on NBC’s “Timeless.”
As Soaps.com reported back on January 10, Brandon Barash, a favorite among Soaps.com readers who plays Port Charles’ mobster Johnny Zacchara on “General Hospital,” has been cast as Ernest Hemingway on NBC’s “Timeless” according to TVLine. Barash will appear in the fourteenth episode of the show on February 6. The episode is set in Paris during the jazz age after World War I and before Hemingway became a famous novelist. In the episode he is a budding newspaper reporter with a sense of adventure, still recovering from the brutality of the war with the help of a strong drink, or two. Barash posted on Twitter that it was, “an honor” to play the role.
Hemingway was a reporter for The Kansas City Star before enlisting in World War I as an ambulance driver and heading to the Italian front. He was seriously wounded in 1918 and returned home. His wartime experiences formed the basis for his novel A Farewell to Arms. His other famous works include For Whom the Bell Tolls and The Old Man and the Sea. Hemingway won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954.
“Timeless” is an action-adventure series in which a mysterious criminal named Garcia Flynn (Goran Višnjić, “ER”) steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine, intent on destroying America by changing the past. The only hope of saving the country lies with an unexpected team: a scientist Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett, “The Hurt Locker”), a soldier named Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter, “90210”), and a history professor Lucy Preston played by Abigail Spencer (“All My Children’s” Rebecca Tyree). Together they use the time machine’s prototype to travel back in time to critical events and stop the madman. While they must make every effort not to affect the past themselves, they must also stay one step ahead of the Flynn.
Timeless airs Mondays at 10:00 PM on NBC. Watch a promo of the show to get caught up on the excitement before it returns with new episodes on January 16.
