“General Hospital’s” Finola Hughes (Port Charles’ Anna Devane) will be taking about three months off of the ABC soap to direct the film “Byrd and the Bees” in Scotland. The movie stars Tracy Spiridakos (“Revolution”) as Rebecca Byrd, a romance novelist who travels to Scotland in search of her birth father. Along the way she experiences the greatest love story she’s never written, as she falls for Gavin McDermott, played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers (“Dracula”). The movie is written and produced by Christine Fry.
Finola Hughes directed The Bet, a romantic comedy also containing the work of Christine Fry. Ian Buchanan (ex-Duke Lavery) also has a role in the film as Ned.

Filming had just begun and the project is due out later this year. Soaps.com reached out to Hughes’ rep, who has no more information on the film at this time because of its current state of production. We will keep you up to date as more information is released.
