Ex-General Hospital’s Rick Springfield in HBO’s True Detective
New role.
Updated June 30:
Rick Springfield made his debut on HBO’s “True Detective” on Sunday June 28 as Dr. Pitlor, a therapist who was treating this season’s murder victim Ben Caspere. Springfield will air again on Sunday July 2. Springfield actually cut his hair for the role and donated some of the locks to a charity auction to support the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, which helps to educate the public on animal cruelty.

Original Story December 14, 2014:
"General Hospital" alum Rick Springfield (Port Charles' ex-Noah Drake) has landed a role on HBO's "True Detective." Springfield will join fellow "General Hospital" actor Jon Lindstrom in True Detective's second season. There is currently no information on Springfield's role on the show.
Season 2 of "True Detective" is currently filming in California and will feature a brand new story. The season stars Colin Farrell ("Total Recall"), Taylor Kitsch ("Friday Night Lights") and Rachel McAdams ("Sherlock Holmes") as three cops who are forced to work with a career criminal played by Vince Vaughn ("Wedding Crashers") in order to solve a high profile murder. The second season is expected to air sometime in the second half of 2015, though no exact date has been announced.
Springfield recently took to Twitter to announce that he had begun taping episodes of the show. Soaps.com will let you know airdates for Springfield as soon as they are known.
