If you’re like me, you were pleasantly surprised last week when Spinelli’s fevered fantasy of Sasha suddenly involved nurse Leyla. The scene was quick, but fun, and I found myself wishing I could just fire a couple questions to Nazanin Boniadi (Leyla) regarding her character’s transformation from nurse to Bond girl. Well under the category of “Wishes Do Come True”, that is exactly what I did. Nazanin was only too happy to reply (and quickly!). Here is what she had to say:

Julie Clark Robinson: How much fun did you have performing martial arts with “Sasha”?

Nazanin Boniadi: It was so much fun playing a “bond girl” in Spinelli’s dream sequence. There was a lot of detailed choreography and we had a lot of fun with the stunts. I loved being Agent Jackal’s kick-ass girl…who wouldn’t?

Julie: You looked amazing with that spy look, by the way. Do you think the powers that be might see Leyla as the next Anna Devane, by chance?

Nazanin: Thank you! It was fun getting all dressed up. I love Anna
Devane, so that would be amazing if they took my character in that direction. What an honor it would be to follow in Finola’s footsteps. I think she’s incredible!

Julie: Do you know if there are any plans to bring Leyla’s mother back to the forefront any time soon? (It was great getting to hear a little more of her back story.)

Nazanin: I sure hope so! It helps the audience connect with a character when they know more about her roots. I think it would be great if that storyline would tie into another family storyline in Port Charles to create some really juicy drama.

Now that you know how Leyla’s lovely portrayer feels, Soaps.com wants to know what General Hospital fans think. Vote below!
