Per E! Online, Rick Springfield’s lawyer entered a plea of not guilty on July 5 in response to the charges the singer was driving under the influence in early May. Since it is a misdemeanor case, Springfield was not required to appear in court. His pretrial hearing has reportedly been set for August 15.

According to TMZ, Rick Springfield (ex-Noah/Eli) was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving the night of May 1. According to the outlet, Springfield was pulled over in Los Angeles for a traffic violation. The cops smelled alcohol, administered field sobriety tests and measured his blood alcohol level at .10, over the .08 legal limit. He was taken to a nearby jail, but released on his own recognizance.
