General Hospital’s Vanessa Marcil Reveals Whether Her Great Ride as Brenda Is Over for Good

General Hospital’s Vanessa Marcil created the role of Brenda in 1992 and was last seen in April 2013. Since then, her fans have been begging and pleading for the actress to return to the ABC soap, and during a live chat put on by Coastal Entertainment, which was transcribed by SoapHub, she revealed whether or not that day would ever come.
Marcil chatted with fans about her longtime friendship with former co-star and onscreen love Maurice Benard (Sonny) before getting into the nitty-gritty of a possible comeback for the character.
“My gosh, well, you know, I will eventually, like there’s no way that it won’t happen,” she stated then continued. “You know, I hate to even say the thing, so I won’t say the thing, but it’ll happen eventually.”

She credited her career to the ABC soap for giving her her first shot in the business, which in turn gave the actress a beautiful life. “I’ll always honor, you know, where I came from,” Marcil expressed while professing much love for her character. “And the fact that Maurice is always still there, you know, makes it a no-brainer because I couldn’t go back and work opposite a Sonny recast or some of these crazy things that happened to some characters.”
In fact, the last time we saw Brenda in Port Charles, she and Sonny had some unfinished business. Though she had asked him to leave town with her to begin a new chapter in their lives in Rome, Sonny felt their timing was off and Brenda left Port Charles — and Sonny — behind.
And even though Sonny is with Nina, if Brenda resurfaced we think it’s safe to say his current girlfriend would definitely pick up on the unfinished business — and feelings — between them. Bring it!
