General Hospital Reveals the *Real* Reason Marcus Coloma Won’t Be the Actor Playing Nikolas’ Final Scenes

By now General Hospital fans are aware that Marcus Coloma has exited the role of Nikolas Cassadine and though we still aren’t any closer to finding out what the future holds for the ABC soap character, more details have surfaced about the actor’s exit — as well as the rumors surrounding it.
Coloma’s last airdate will take place at the end of January and it had also been reported that he wasn’t able to film his final scenes. Though there were rumors that he had been fired, walked off the set and refused to film the scenes, our sister site Deadline has learned that in fact, the actor and the network had agreed “that he should not film the remaining few days of the year” due to “health issues with his recent Covid exposure.”
During that time, Adam Huss filled in for Coloma, who had taken over the role in 2019 and signed a three-year contract that had been fulfilled in 2022.

The spokesperson for the actor also shared a letter to Coloma’s friends and fans to not only confirm his exit but to dispel the rumors that began swirling over the internet, as well as a message about his time on the soap. “I was immediately taken with the family feel of the ensemble cast,” said Coloma. “And I fell in love with the extremely passionate fanbase.” He went on to express how their “outpouring of love and excitement, week after week” had been unlike anything he’d ever experienced before and added, “I will always be grateful for their kindness and support.”
We wish Coloma the very best in the next chapter of his career and will continue to keep our readers updated on future developments surrounding the role and whether or not the ABC soap plans to recast Nikolas or send him off the canvas.
