As General Hospital’s Rebecca Budig Returns to the Screen, She Shares an Update On Her Future as Hayden
It’s been three years since Rebecca Budig checked out of General Hospital as Finn’s babymama and Elizabeth’s half sister, Hayden, and we’re still waiting for her return. “I am so grateful to all the fans who still ask me about [the show],” she tells Soap Opera Digest. “I’m so appreciative that people are like, ‘Come back!’
“It’s very sweet,” she adds, “and I hear they do still talk about Hayden from time to time… ”
Hayden could completely upend Finn and Liz’s relationship.

How could they not? When the character exited stage left, it was only because ex-lover/would-be killer Nikolas convinced her that she was in danger from Valentin. You’d think that in all of this time, Hayden would have figured out that he’d been BSing her, and that she’d missed a whole lotta precious moments with daughter Violet. But apparently not.
If Hayden does get wise, the timing would be perfect for her to come roaring back into Port Charles. Lost love Finn is now dating her sibling! Plus, Liz just reconnected with estranged father Jeff, whose long-ago resulted in Hayden’s very existence!
Budig will have a Christmas presence this year.

Alas, Budig, who stars in CBS’ Fit for Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 4, hasn’t yet been contacted by the soap. “I haven’t heard anything from the show,” she says, “but I would always be open to coming back.” And, as ever, it seems less a question of if the show will reactivate Hayden as when.
