The following couples developed passionate fan bases proving opposites attract. Do you also remember these couples from canceled soap operas who never should have worked, but did?
Katie Logan & Wyatt Spencer, The Bold and the Beautiful

She was a bit older, he was a bit goofier, but these two just clicked. Who cared if she was previously married to his father Bill Spencer (and then returned to him) and is his half-brother’s mother? There are no rules in soaps, especially when role-playing was as hot as it was between Katie Logan and Wyatt Spencer.
Steffy Forrester & Bill Spencer, The Bold and the Beautiful

Bill Spencer finds himself in the stickiest of triangles, and the one with Steffy Forrester was no different. Bill is old enough to be her father, and Steffy was married to both of his sons Liam and Wyatt. None of that stopped their attraction from building over the years or Still’s fan base from hoping they end up together. Or that Bill will turn out to be baby Kelly’s bio dad.
Ciara Brady & Ben Weston, Days of our Lives

He’s the Necktie Killer who tormented and killed several Salemites. In no universe should Ben Weston be part of his own super popular coupling. Yet, he is, with Ciara Brady, the daughter of a beloved supercouple, no less. Ben and Ciara even got the big church wedding over three other couples who married in the same month but in their living rooms and restaurants. And Cin’s passionate fan base, who will ship them to the bitter end, couldn’t have been happier. Well… except for that explosive ending.
Sarah Horton & Xander Kiriakis, Days of our Lives

Like Ben, Xander Kiriakis should have no rooting value. He’s locked people in cages, attempted murder, stolen babies, and more. But once he fell for good girl Sarah Horton (she did cheat on her husband with his brother and also kidnapped a baby, but other than that she’s sweetness and light), everything changed. He’s now driven by his love for Sarah, who can’t help but fall for his bad-boy charm. And Xarah supporters can’t blame her.
Coleman Ratcliffe & Kate Howard, General Hospital

He was a slick hustler bartender. She was a sophisticated editor of a fashion magazine. Coleman Ratcliffe and Kate Howard were the very definition of opposites attracting. Never in a million years should they have worked, but their chemistry was off the charts and their short-lived affair was good, sexy, dirty, fun.
Elizabeth Webber & Franco Baldwin, General Hospital

First name only Franco (now Franco Baldwin) was a serial killer artist who kidnapped half of Port Charles, including Elizabeth Webber’s son Aiden. He also drugged Sam and made her think he raped her. There was more, of course, but his evil deeds were all chalked up to a brain tumor. His ensuing journey to redemption led him to Elizabeth and her boys. Now, they’re all one big, sweet, loving, happy family with only one complaint coming from Friz’s passionate fans – they aren’t onscreen enough.
Nikki Newman & Deacon Sharpe, The Young and the Restless

Sure it started as a set up for Deacon Sharpe to break up Nikki and Victor Newman, but the two alcoholics’ heat could be felt through the screen. They were bad for each other for sure, but it was fun to watch the former stripper turned first lady of Genoa City get loose and wild with the younger and shadier Deacon Sharpe.
Victoria Newman & Ryan McNeil, The Young and the Restless

Victoria Newman and Ryan McNeil’s star-crossed love story ended with near marriage and his tragic death, cementing them as an epic coupling who overcame outside forces, other loves, and her father Victor Newman. However, it all began when Victoria was 16 years old, and Ryan was in his twenties. We’re pretty sure that ickiness wouldn’t fly today, but back then their fans saw Victoria and Ryan as the stuff great first-love stories are made of.
