Vivian Alamain was introduced in 1992 when she arrived in Salem and shot Alphonse LeBeque, who was holding her nephew Lawrence Alamain, at gunpoint. Vivian returned to help Lawrence uncover lost family treasures, which he believed were stolen years ago by John Black working as the thief Romulus. In a shocking turn of events, John turned out to be the long lost brother of Lawrence, Forrest Alamain, who was sent away after a jealous Lawrence almost killed him when they were children.
Vivian and Carly’s rivalry

Vivian and Carly Manning have had a long rivalry, but once Carly thought of Vivian as a friend. Born Katerina Von Leuschner, she was promised from birth to marry Lawrence. She fell in love with him under false pretenses, when he used a fake name, and she ran away from him with Vivian’s help. Carly was also pregnant but believed her child died shortly after birth. His death was faked by Vivian, who raised him as her adopted son Nicholas “Nikki” Alamain. Lawrence eventually learned the truth and exposed Vivian’s lies.
Vivian buries Carly alive

Vivian was determined to keep Carly from being a mother to Nicholas. Due to herbal pills that she was taking from Dr. Wu, she began to act unusual and set her sights on Carly. She framed her for killing several of her patients and finally injected her with a serum putting her into a death-like state. Carly was buried with an oxygen tank to keep her alive for a short time. Once she came off the pills, Vivian told Lawrence what she had done and he raced to rescue Carly.
Vivian carries Philip Kiriakis

Vivian originally married Victor Kiriakis in a business deal but fell in love with him. When he left her for Kate Roberts she was furious and set out to break them up. Victor and Kate were trying to get pregnant through in-vitro fertilization, and Vivian arranged for their embryo to be implanted in her by accident, though it was no accident. She gave birth to their son Philip Kiriakis.

Not only did Vivian rob Kate of the chance of carrying Philip, she schemed to marry Victor during a wedding rehearsal where she stood in for Kate, only the wedding was real. When Kate finally learned everything Vivian had done, Vivian drugged Kate’s coffee. Unfortunately, Kate was leaving on a business trip and gave the coffee to her plane’s pilot, and he crashed into the ocean. Kate was forced to work on a fishing boat while making her way back to Salem, only to find Victor had moved on with Vivian.
Vivian plots against Carly’s daughter

When Carly returned to Salem after killing her husband Lawrence, who had gone mad and become abusive, Vivian set her sights on making Carly pay. Carly had an affair years ago with Dr. Daniel Jonas and secretly gave birth to a daughter, who a jealous Lawrence forced her to give up. It was revealed that Melanie Jonas, formerly Layton, was that daughter. Melanie was engaged to marry Philip and Vivian set out to kill her. She planned to have Melanie wear a poison comb on her wedding day, but Victor figured out her scheme along with others and he switched out the comb. When her plans to kill Melanie failed, she set her sights on destroying Carly again.
Vivian and Maggie’s feud

When Vivian believed Maggie was after Victor Kiriakis, she decided to pull a play from her playbook and bury Maggie alive, this time in a sarcophagus. However, Brady Black learned of her plans and put Vivian into the sarcophagus instead. Vivian’s latest henchman Gus rescued her and together they kidnapped and entombed Maggie. Victor was able to rescue Maggie, and as punishment, Vivian and Gus were left abandoned on a deserted island. In time they were rescued.
Vivian’s son Quinn

In a big shock it was revealed that Vivian had a son years ago, Quinn, who was working as a pimp. Vivian and Quinn had a rocky relationship, made worse by Vivian’s jealous henchman Gus. Gus murdered several prostitutes on the dock and framed Quinn for their deaths. The truth about Gus was revealed when one of his victims Chloe Lane, who Quinn blackmailed into being a prostitute, identified Gus as her attacker.
Vivian has Stefano’s son

In a New Year’s Eve shocker, Vivian and a guest crashed the DiMera family New Year’s Eve party. She revealed her guest was in fact Stefan O DiMera, the son of Stefano DiMera. Vivian and Stefan seized control of the mansion and DiMera Enterprises.
Vivian and Leo scheme

In an attempt to take over Titan, Vivian hired a prostitute and conman, Leo Stark, to get a job at the company and seduce Sonny Kiriakis. Afterward, Leo sued Sonny and Titan for sexual harassment. His plan was eventually exposed.
Locked in the secret room

Vivian discovered her son Stefan had fallen for Chad’s wife Abigail, who was suffering from DID and calling herself Gabby. When Stefan planned to run away from Salem with Gabby, Vivian refused to allow it to happen. He locked his mother in the secret room, where Marlena Evans and Kate Roberts had also been locked up. Stuck with them, Vivian revealed the truth about Abigail, who murdered Kate’s husband Andre DiMera.
Vivian is shot

When Kate finally learned of Leo and Vivian’s scheme, she threatened to send Vivian to prison. Vivian pulled a gun on Kate and they wrestled over it. During the struggle, Vivian was shot and declared dead. However, Doctor Rolf saved her with his serum.
Stefan’s death

For Vivian’s last brief return the role was played by Robin Strasser, who came to get revenge on Kate, who she shot and buried alive. Unfortunately for Vivian, Kate dug her way out of the grave. On the run, Vivian was stopped by Lani Price. As Lani prepared to shoot Vivian if she didn’t drop her gun, Stefan jumped in front of the bullet and was hit in the throat. He was later declared brain dead, and Vivian fled town.
