Join us as we relive some of the craziest things that have happened to Philip Kiriakis on Days of our Lives.
In high school, Philip was falsely accused of rape by Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), the girl he’d fallen for, and though they reconciled, he later dumped her during a nude photo scandal and left to join the military.
Philip lost part of his lower leg in Iraq, though it’s never brought up since and he’s been seen playing basketball without any notice of a handicap. He was thrilled for the birth of his daughter, Claire, but she turned out to be Shawn Brady’s (Jason Cook, Brandon Beemer) child, and not Philip’s. He left town but continued to see Belle on the sly. Philip attempted to get full custody of Claire using his money and influence, which forced Belle and Shawn to go on the run with her. Philip took an odd approach in his attempt to get Belle back and blackmailed her into sleeping with him in order to save Shawn’s career after a blunder. She agreed, but Philip called it off.
In another strange twist, it turned out Philip needed reconstructive surgery due to an injury incurred whilst performing his duties as a Marine, and returned to Salem with a new face – having undergone a face transplant. The reason was that Philip was originally played by Jay Kenneth Johnson, but was recast with Kyle Brandt. When the bandages were removed, we saw that it was Jay Kenneth Johnson playing the role again.
Philip conceived a child with Mimi Lockhart (Farah Fath) when the Black Glove (EJ DiMera) switched Belle’s egg with Mimi’s during an in vitro procedure. The fertilized egg was carried by a surrogate, and the boy, Tyler, was fostered by Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) before being adopted by a couple known as Mr. and Mrs. Wilkens.
During his time as CEO of Titan, Philip paid Paul Hollingsworth (Linden Ashby) to plant drugs on DiMera ships when John Black (Drake Hogestyn) was in charge at the competitor, and later became embroiled in controversy over an alternative fuel project owned by Melanie Layton (Molly Burnett), and ended up being blamed for the death of Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis), who slipped and fell while walking away from a confrontation with Philip.
Philip’s life got crazier still when Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) and EJ (James Scott) put out a hit on him. He survived being shot, but the DiMeras then paid a nurse to drug him. As the bizarre feud continued, Philip and Victor kidnapped Stefano and denied him insulin, which led to Philip’s fiancée, Stephanie Johnson (Shelley Hennig) being kidnapped. Naturally, Philip had to sneak into a morgue to rescue Stephanie by pretending to be a corpse.
Philip and Melanie butted heads in business when she owned the right to an alternative fuel project, but later married. Melanie divorced Phillp after finding out he had sex with Chloe and got her pregnant. Melanie, who had also become pregnant, miscarried their child.
In a bizarre series of events after Philip got Chloe pregnant while he was married to Melanie, and Chloe was married to Dr. Daniel Jonas, Caroline Brady (Peggy McCay) changed the paternity test results so he didn’t learn he was Parker’s father until the day of the child’s baptism. Chloe signed over full custody of Parker to Philip when she became suicidal, but later threatened to take him, so Philip moved with the boy to Chicago. Chloe eventually joined them, only to return to town with news that Daniel was actually Parker’s father, not Philip, as Stephanie had changed the results before Caroline.
