Just outside of the Top 10 is the Daytime Emmy winner who in 2020 celebrated his ruby anniversary as The Young and the Restless’ Victor Newman, a Casanova who‘s historically gone through wives faster than calendar pages. Well, except for one…
10. Melody Thomas Scott

Never let it be said that Scott isn’t one smart cookie. In 1979, the grownup child star was offered two roles: a sitcom and a soap. She chose the latter, and 41 years later, we’re still thrilling to her work as The Young and the Restless’ Nikki Newman. Oh, and the sitcom? The pilot wasn’t picked up; it never made it to air!
9. Doug Davidson

You may not remember the summer of 1978, but if you were watching The Young and the Restless, you sure as a sunburn recall Davidson, who at that time made his debut as libidinous beach bum Paul Williams.
8. Kin Shriner

Would you have thought that he was a General Hospital regular before Genie Francis joined the cast as future bride Laura? Us, too. But he wasn’t actually hired to play an older, hotter Scotty Baldwin till a year after Francis stepped in as Laura. (More on that shortly… )
7. Jacklyn Zeman

The same year that Shriner was brought aboard General Hospital as Scotty, Zeman was recruited straight off of One Life to Live — where she’d played ill-fated Lana McClain — to bring to life his borderline-obsessed playmate, Bobbie Spencer.
6. Leslie Charleson

The General Hospital veteran has been very upfront in the past about how hard it was to come in as a recast of Monica Quartermaine (then Webber). But she rose to the challenge and has held the role since 1977!
5. Genie Francis

Somewhere, Stacey Baldwin is gnashing her teeth! When she was replaced as General Hospital youngster Laura Vining in 1976, the character really took off — to the point that she’s still on the show 44 years later!
4. Deidre Hall

An occupant of Days of our Lives’ frontburner since 1975 — give or take a couple of breaks now and then — Marlena Evans’ beloved portrayer celebrated her sapphire anniversary as a Salemite in 2020.
3. Suzanne Rogers

You would think that 47 years in one role would be enough to set a record. But nope, the veteran actress who brings to life Maggie Kiriakis on Days of our Lives is beaten by not one but two of her castmates!
2. Bill Hayes

The one person currently working in daytime who’s served longer in their role than this 95-year old soap icon, who’s played Doug Williams on Days of our Lives since 1970, just happens to be his better half!

The only Days of our Lives cast member to appear on the NBC soap opera in all six decades of its existence, Julie Williams’ portrayer has been a resident of Salem for a whopping 52 years!
