When Spencer Cassadine returned to Port Charles in 2020, he did so with a chip on his shoulder — thanks to dad Nikolas playing dead for three years! — a harebrained scheme to stick it to his old man and a ninja outfit that startled the crap out of instacrush Trina Robinson (then Sydney Mikayla).

Though the chemistry between the couple was through the roof, Spencer was more interested in his cockamamie plot than he was in starting a new relationship. He lied to Trina that his name was Victor, avoided her friends, who would recognize him as Spencer, and… oh! He had a freaking girlfriend!
The Imperfect Couple

Spencer’s significant other Esme Prince was no ordinary spoiler to a possible romance with Trina, either. The vixen was secretly being manipulated by psycho father Ryan Chamberlain to act as a match un-maker between the object of his obsession, Ava Jerome, and husband Nikolas.
Time to Throw in the Towel?

Whether Spencer and Trina wanted them to or not, their feelings for one another deepened… which made it extra awkward when vicious Esme made public a video of a boo’d-up Cameron Webber and Josslyn Jacks losing their virginity — and framed Joss’ BFF Trina for the crime!
Another Fine Mess

Although Spencer 100-percent believed that Trina (now Tabyana Ali) was innocent, he pretended that he didn’t… only so that he could try to get the goods on Esme. Brokenhearted, Trina found herself being drawn to rookie cop Rory Cabrera. He was sweet, handsome, dependable. Unfortunately, he just wasn’t Spencer.
The Moment of Truth

Well, a moment of truth, anyway. In court, Spencer provided Trina with an alibi, in so doing landing himself in such hot water that he was sentenced to three months in Pentonville. Needless to say, Trina was more confused than ever. And grandma Laura Collins could just give him The Look. You know the one!
At Long Last, Love?

You would have thought that once Trina learned that Spencer had been working on her behalf all along that they would’ve had to get together, right? But you would’ve thought wrong. He had made things so messy and complicated that she elected to make a go of it with nice, simple Rory.
To Die For

Trina was just realizing that she had to dump Rory — her attraction to Spencer was too strong to ignore — when the cop was offed by The Hook. Conveniently, “Sprina” would have to pretend to be a couple in order to figure out that the serial killer was Esme’s maniacal mother, Heather Webber. (They nailed the act, by the way.)
OK, *Now* at Long Last, Love!

Spencer’s relationship with Esme being as dead and buried as poor Rory, there was nothing in the way of “Sprina” admitting to one another that they were in love. But he resisted the urge to consummate their feelings in the heat of the moment. When it happened, he wanted it to be as perfect as Trina herself.
Another Fine Mess

Following Nikolas’ “death,” Spencer got swept up in his Uncle Victor’s bonkers plot to save the world by killing most of the people on the planet. So like grandma Laura and her former husband Luke Spencer before them, Spencer and Trina were tasked with riding to the rescue… or dying trying!
Reunited and It Feels So…

Oof! After being told that Spencer was really, most sincerely dead, Trina was so overjoyed to see that he had survived the sinking of the Haunted Star that she leapt into his arms. (Read what went into the making of the scene here.)
