Guess when a soap has, as General Hospital does, 2,107 characters, a tie or two among its favorites is inevitable — even the rare four-way tie. But this one is particularly telling, in that it’s a pretty good predictor of the rest of your most-loved list, a collection of sweethearts and saints who wouldn’t be caught dead in a black hat. Well, except for the anomaly at No. 3.
You don’t have to tell us that Stone Cold is a Mob flunky whose police file is larger than his closetful of tight black T-shirts — we know. Nonetheless, it would appear that you’re willing to cut him some — OK, a lot of — slack because he fights on the wrong side of the law for the right reasons. Most of the time, anyway. Also, he has those eyes. Big plus, those.
It’s fitting that Maura West’s femme fatale once sang “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” at the Nurses Ball — because that’s the way fans feel about her! Whenever she’s on screen, we’re watching closer, leaning forward. How could we not be? As Soaps.com reader Eric Everett pointed out, Ava has a “sass and edginess” that makes her as impossible for us to resist as her martinis are for her to resist!
How do viewers love Nancy Lee Grahn’s character? Let one of them count the ways. “She’s funny and sexy and mostly owns her own faults,” noted Soaps.com reader Sue Bibeault. “And she’s a great lawyer.” We might add that she’s left an even higher body count in her wake than Sonny, yet we still adore her as if she was Saint Audrey Hardy!
Chad Duell’s character is the best of two worlds, in the estimation of Soaps.com reader Kelly Greene Burns. “He is levelheaded like his Uncle Jason but can be so [like mom] Carly if need be.” He’s also often the voice of reason in a family — not to mention a town! — that tends to run short on that commodity!
