It’s safe to say that no one in Port Charles will be more impacted by Mike’s death than his son. Their relationship over the years was difficult at best, non-existent at times and, ultimately, rewarding for both during Mike’s final months. However, a grieving Sonny could become a dangerous Sonny as he channels his emotions into a new endeavor… destroying Cyrus!
Carly wanted to avoid distracting Sonny with her recent Nelle drama while he was dealing with his dad’s declining health. In the wake of Mike’s passing, Sonny’s likely to throw himself whole-hog into the Cyrus situation… leaving Carly to continue confiding in ex-husband Jax. Anybody else see this as a speeding train ready to derail?
Losing Mike could put Jason and Sam in a tough spot. On the one hand, it will likely remind this couple that time is fleeting, perhaps even convincing them to tie the knot ASAP? On the other, Sonny will need Jason more than ever, and the continuing threat that is Cyrus will only crank up the danger they’re all facing!
Nothing changes the perspective of a young person like losing someone close to them. Already, both Josslyn and Michael have experienced this — repeatedly. While Michael seems destined to move forward with Willow (even if this puts him on the path to heartache, should she and Chase reunite), Josslyn is at a crossroads in her life. Will she remain the good girl her grandfather saw or prove to be her mother’s (wild) child after all?
Watching Mike and Avery spend time together didn’t just melt the heart of viewers, it also thawed the deep freeze that has long existed between the little girl’s parents, Ava and Sonny. Dare we hope that this warming trend might continue… inevitably creating yet another source of friction between Sonny and his wife?
As Sonny pointed out, Stella has become like a member of the extended Corinthos family. Heaven knows they could use the wise words and occasional gentle rebukes for which she’s well known. While we never actually got the Mike/Stella romance we’d been hoping for, perhaps this tragedy will prompt her to open her heart to the possibility of loving again?
