Sami was proved right to turn away from EJ, soon enough. When Lucas’ life was in peril, EJ demanded she sleep with him in exchange for saving her man’s life. Feeling she had no choice, Sami complied.
That rape led to Sami becoming pregnant with EJ’s child. But, she was also pregnant with Lucas’ baby. You know you’re on a soap opera when that’s the least shocking thing to happen to you.
Lucas and Sami got married, but their problems were far from over. Especially when Sami divorced Lucas to marry EJ, but only to end the long Brady/DiMera feud. It may have healed the family war, but it ended with a bullet in EJ’s back.
Lucas confessed to shooting his rival, even though Will was the actual shooter. With Lucas in prison, EJ took the opportunity to worm his way into Sami’s heart. He succeeded, as the very day Lucas was released from prison, he walked in on Sami in bed with EJ.
Unable to decide between the men, EJ and Lucas made it for Sami, by moving on with Nicole and Chloe respectively. As for Sami, she discovered she was pregnant by EJ again, but kept it a secret. Then, she witnessed a murder, and went into witness protection. To top it all off, Nicole swapped and kidnapped Sami’s newborn, Sydney.
Angry with Sami for lying about Sydney, EJ kidnapped his daughter from Nicole, and planned to let Sami think she was dead. Though they eventually reunited, Sami shot him in the head when she found out. So, you know, that ended things again for a while.
Sami reunited with Lucas when he returned to Salem for Will, who started working for EJ and eventually came out as gay. However, when EJ was framed for Stefano’s murder, Sami went on the run with him to help prove his innocence, which led to a triangle with EJ and Rafe. But that’s another story.
Sami and EJ eventually re-married, but not before EJ had an affair with Abigail. In retaliation, Sami had him arrested for insider trading and kicked out of DiMera. She forgave him though, but sadly, he was shot and thought to be killed by Clyde Weston shortly after.
Lucas wanted nothing more than to reunite with Sami. However, she was still in love with EJ (now played by Dan Feuerriegel), who came to Salem to repair his marriage. EJ and Sami found happiness again — until he found out about his wife’s affair, that is.
It took a few years, but EJ eventually returned from the dead. However, he was badly injured in an explosion. Sami whisked him off to Italy to recuperate, but their marriage didn’t exactly thrive. Upon confiding in Lucas how lonely she felt in her marriage, Sami slept with her ex — twice.
Sami was kidnapped moments after EJ kicked her out of his life for her betrayal. But while EJ was arrested for the crime, Lucas was the real culprit. He even set EJ up for it, and left town with Sami. Lucas finally got everything he wanted, but we have a feeling it won’t last.
