Way back in the early 90s, Sami and Lucas schemed to break up their siblings Carrie and Austin so they could have them for themselves. They still slept together though, and, when Sami discovered she was pregnant, she tried to pass the baby off as Austin’s, when it was really Lucas’.

Despite their scheming beginning, Sami falsely accusing Lucas of abusing their Will during a custody fight, and Sami facing execution for a crime Lucas committed, those two crazy kids fell in love. However, their first try at marriage was interrupted when Kate set it up to make it look like Sami was having an affair with Brandon. And, of course, there was that whole Sami dressing up as Stan debacle.

Sami and Lucas found their way back to their young loves, Austin and Carrie respectively. However, more lies, deception and Carrie and Austin’s undeniable connection put a stop to all that. As Lucas and Sami focused on co-parenting their unruly son Will, their spark reignited. They were happy in love until EJ Wells, a.k.a. EJ DiMera, hit town and forced Sami to sleep with him in order to save Lucas’ life.

Sami became pregnant with twins with both Lucas and EJ as the fathers. Sami and Lucas still got married but it was short-lived. In a cruel twist of fate, the only way to end the volatile Brady/DiMera feud was for Sami to leave Lucas and marry EJ. Lucas didn’t handle it so well though and took the blame for shooting EJ at the wedding. But, in a plot twist, he was actually covering for the real shooter — Will.

Lucas went to prison leaving Sami to truly fall for EJ. Lucas discovered that fun fact when he found them together right after he got out of prison. Relationship chaos ensued, as Lucas fell for Chloe and left Salem, and Sami moved on to Rafe.

After more Rafe and EJ drama for Sami, and Chloe and alcohol drama for Lucas, Sami turned to her ex for help with a SORASed Will. The two reconnected when Lucas moved home, leaving a fiancée in Hong Kong. Of course, that reunion was short-lived because… EJ.

Sami and Lucas continued to co-parent (and grandparent) while supporting each other over the years whether living in Salem, Los Angeles or Italy. They leaned on each other when they thought Will was killed by the Necktie Killer and when Allie started to party a little too much as a teen. But while Sami searched for, and reunited with, a presumed dead EJ, Lucas had romances with Chloe (again) and Adrienne.
Reunited and It Feels so Guilty

Lucas and Sami reunited in Salem after their daughter Allie’s rapist was murdered. Sami was also dealing with EJ’s rejection at home and sought comfort in Lucas’s arms one night. They had sex a second time when Kristen locked them in the DiMera wine cellar together. Though Lucas was having a blast reconnecting with his ex-wife, Sami was feeling a bit more guilty and scrambled to keep her infidelity a secret from her husband.
The Triangle Reforms

Just as Lucas declared his feelings for Sami, wouldn’t you know it, EJ decided to finally join his wife in Salem. Lucas did what any irrationale man would do and kidnapped Sami, set EJ up for it, and left town with his love, after “rescuing” her.
