As it turns out, yes… we are, in fact, having fun! Or at least Camila Banus (Gabi), Emily O’Brien (Gwen) and Marci Miller (Abigail) were while rehearsing what would prove to be very dramatic scenes on air. “We work incredibly fast,” Banus recently told Soaps.com, “but we still manage to have fun. You have to, right? Otherwise, we’d be stressed out all the time!”
Sometimes, when you see a behind-the-scenes photo like this, you really, really want to see the blooper reel in order to find out exactly what was said — and by whom — that elicited so hysterical a reaction!
Here’s a moment we’re not about to see happen on screen anytime soon, given that Abigail and Gwen are more likely to slap one another than present dad Jack (Matthew Ashford) with simultaneous kisses!
The gorgeous Sal Stowers and Lamon Archey took a break from filming Lani and Eli’s wedding in order to stage this rather unconventional version of a bouquet toss.
Mary Beth Evans’ Kayla seems to be saying, “Of course I’m a doctor. No one but a trained medical professional could get these gloves on — and without an assist, I might add!”
Hmmm… seems like someone might wanna give new mom Lani a few lessons in the proper way to hold her baby!
We’re not sure exactly what Archey is doing to that baby — perhaps giving him a pinch to grow on? — but all we can really focus on is that gorgeous smile his actions elicited from Stowers.
Apparently, nobody on set the day these scenes were taped could look one another in the eye without cracking up! If only actual childbirth was this much fun… right?
When the time came to take new cast photos, Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) and John Aniston (Victor) showed the younger set how it’s done. Meanwhile, how very “meta” is this… an unseen photographer taking a picture of another photographer taking a picture?
Billy Flynn and his leading lady were clearly distracted by something just off screen… Ooh, were there donuts? That would certainly have gotten our attention!
Based on the look Stowers is giving Archey — not to mention the hand gesture — we’re going to guess he just kicked off their photo shoot by telling the father of all “dad jokes.”
The cast photos were taken just before Banus brought Gabi roaring back into Salem. At the time, we assumed the fact that she posed with Brandon Barash’s Jake meant the on-screen exes would soon be reunited. While it took longer than expected — and won’t last, if Kate has anything to say about it — that’s how things eventually played out.
Guess when William Shatner (aka Star Trek‘s Captain Kirk) jokingly accused Days of Our Lives of having Paul Telfer run around shirtless because the soap “doesn’t have a wardrobe budget,” he hadn’t caught a glimpse of Xander in his kilt… let alone the show he put on by cheekily showing off a bit of leg!
Talk about the oddest of friendships. Who could have imagined that Lani and Kristen, of all people, would wind up being gal pals? Guess spending time in wimples is a bonding experience! In any case, Stowers and Stacy Haiduk clearly bring out the best in one another!
OK, fine, he’s not a doctor, but Jon Lindstrom plays one on TV. When Days of Our Lives wanted Jennifer to share a passionate smooch with TV hubby Jack, they called in a lip double… portrayer Cady McClain’s real-life spouse, Jon Lindstrom, better known as Dr. Kevin Collins on General Hospital.
Before being bumped off, Salem baddie Charlie knocked mom Ava on the noggin. But because you can’t keep a bad-girl-gone-better-if-not-entirely-good down, Ava survived the attack… and portrayer Tamara Braun proved that sometimes, laying down on the job is all in a day’s work.
Hold up… something’s not quite right here. Ashford and TV son Casey Moss (ex-JJ) are mugging for the camera, but something’s missing. Or should we say someone… as in the owner of that extra set of hands…
Well now, that makes more sense! Somewhere, you know Gwen is fuming about not being part of this adorable family photo. And given how most of you feel about Gwen, we suspect the idea of her being miffed puts a big ol’ smile on your faces!
This photo might actually perfectly capture the approach Ciara’s two suitors are taking. While Cameron Johnson’s Theo has gone the sweet, romantic route, Robert Scott Wilson’s Ben is one step away from throwing Victoria Konefal’s alter ego over his shoulder and marching off. Far as we can tell, this is pretty much a win/win situation for the lucky girl in the middle!
