If there are two things we know Rhodes has been keeping Ciara well-stocked in, it’s hair supplies (’cause our girl looks incredible) and reading materials. Believing her to be lacking in a basic familiarity with the classics, Ciara’s captor has provided her with several… including Romeo and Juliet.

It should surprise absolutely no one that when Ciara dreamed herself and Ben into the era of Romeo and Juliet, her beau looked downright gorgeous in the period garb. Even the statue that is literally carved out of stone had to marvel at the cut of Ben’s cheekbones, which are downright timeless.

Well, if you have to ask, you probably haven’t been paying attention. Meanwhile, we feel like we need to warn Ciara to be careful, because that particular window looks an awful lot like the one through which Marlena once pushed Kristen!

Victoria Konefal’s Ciara could not have looked more beautiful as she gazed down at her Romeo. “We’re using the fantasy element,” says headwriter Ron Carlivati, “to give the audience the scenes they’re craving. They want to see Ben and Ciara together, even if it’s not yet reality.”

The staging for Ciara’s fantasy sequences was at times incredibly simple yet stirringly dramatic. The black background lent a starkness to the moody candlelight, helping add a sense of fantasy to the sequences.

“We’ve shown that Ben and Ciara have a spiritual connection,” says Carlivati. “It’s something that is very in keeping with classic Days of Our Lives couples who’ve had that same sort of connection, including John and Marlena.”

“The audience obviously wants to see this couple together,” admits Carlivati. “But we couldn’t just have them reunite without explaining where she’s been all this time. So while we’re keeping them apart a while longer, we’re giving the audience the romance that they need to see at the same time.”

While not saying exactly how long Konefal will be on the canvas, Carlivati says this “is not one of those situations like we saw at Christmas, where Ciara appeared to Ben as a vision, and that was it. We’re telling an actual story.”

“One of the things I love about soaps is that you get to experience so many different things, all while playing the same role,” Konefal told us during an exclusive chat last year. “You never know what you’re going to get to do next, and that’s exciting.”

Like Romeo and Juliet, Ben and Ciara have been through their fair share of tragedies… including each mistakenly believing the other to be dead. Something tells us, however, that Ben and Ciara will (hopefully) wind up having a happier ending than did the legendary couple.
