On Ice

We open on a lab in which a doctor and his assistant look at what appears to be a cryogenic tube. Soon, the doctor says, Megan will have retrieved all three of the prisms and, once they are united, bring the person inside back to life!

In Montreal, Hope is shocked to see Megan. “Did you die back in the ’80s?” asks Ciara. “So did vinyl records and fanny packs,” quips Stefano’s daughter. “I guess we’re all making a comeback!”
Megan hands Harris — wounded by the bullet fired by Thomas and meant for Hope — the gun and says she wants one thing and one thing only from him: He’s to kill Hope!
Harris points the gun at Hope, who says, “So much for being one of the good guys.” But Harris hesitates, and their eyes meet.
Harris looks troubled… confused… and possibly ill. One thing he does not look like is a man who will put a bullet into the woman he just made his wife.
And just like that, Harris collapses! In the confusion, Ben tries to grab Megan, but she manages to escape, having smartly had a car waiting for her just outside the park.
At the DiMera Enterprises gala, Li proudly presents to the crowd one of the prisms, glossing over the fact that one is useless without the other two.
An armed John and Steve enter, grab Wendy and demand that Li hand over the prism or they will kill his sister.
Li hands the prism to John, who beats a hasty retreat. Just then, Kayla enters and calls out to her husband. This gives Wendy the distraction she needs to elbow her captor in the cut, grab the gun and turn it on Steve!
In the lobby, Marlena tries reaching John. And for a moment, it looks as if perhaps she has reached him. But instead, he pushes her into Paul and Andrew and makes his escape.
Li suggests that Wendy hand him the gun, but his little sister has the situation under control. “She’s more than okay,” Gabi tells her beau. “She’s a badass!” Li admits he underestimated Wendy, who responds, “What’s new?”
In heaven, Angela refuses to let Bo use the monitor to see what’s going on down below. They both know that if Hope so much as stubs her toe, he’ll want to interfere. Instead, she urges him to remember that “eventually, the two of you will be reunited.”
Steve suggests Tripp have his girlfriend drop the gun. When Tripp insists that Wendy isn’t his girlfriend, his father cruelly responds, “That’s probably for the best. Don’t they just wind up dumping you for someone else?” Tripp and Joey take their dad upstairs to try and deprogram him.
Harris is being held by the ISA. Hope arrives and presents him with annullment papers to sign, saying once he does, it will be as if their marriage never happened. After all, they were just using one another… right?
Harris tells Hope that despite Megan’s orders, when the time came, he couldn’t shoot her. But Hope’s not about to be swayed. She’s been briefed by Shane and knows that her new husband kidnapped Steve and John, allowing them to be brainwashed.
As Hope is about to exit, Harris calls out for her to wait. “I know you think that none of what we had is real, but you’re a smart, perceptive woman. If I never had any genuine feelings for you at all, don’t you think you would have known?”
Harris admits that he feels hollow, and wonders if perhaps Megan could have brainwashed him the same way she did John and Steve. Hope admits she saw his military record and knows he was once an honorable man. She promises to have Shane see about running tests on Harris.
In Venezuela, John presents Megan with the prism he retrieved from Hong Kong. Given that she already has one from Phil (the dead poker player) and the one she managed to get away from Hope, this gives Megan the entire collection.
Grinning from ear to ear, Megan reunites the three crystals, which begin to glow. It seems she may finally be making her dream come true…
Andrew and John burst in, guns drawn. Paul pleads with his dad to hand over the prism, but to no avail.
Paul says no matter how messed up his dad’s brain is, he won’t shoot him. For his part, John insists that Paul means absolutely nothing to him. You may not have raised me, but I feel as if I have known you my entire life.”
“You have rescued me more times than I can count,” Paul tells his dad. “And now it is my turn to rescue you.”
Clearly tired of this father/son reunion, Megan holds up a little black box and, with a push of the button, causes the room to fill with a gas.
Megan breaks out a mask as John, Paul and Andrew collapse in the gas. Grabbing the prisms, Megan makes her escape.
Freed of Megan’s brainwashing, Steve apologizes to Tripp, Joey and Wendy for everything that went down. Wendy tells Steve it’s water under the bridge, adding that he’s raised “two pretty cool sons who love you very much.”
Once alone, Steve apologizes to Kayla for having tied her up and scared her. She is completely understanding, saying that now it’s her turn to take care of him.
Joey and Wendy talk about the future. He’s realized that he wants to make a few changes in his life, including quitting his sister’s PR firm and doing something he’s passionate about. He kinda sorta asks her if maybe they could see one another, and she shoots him down.
Wendy admits she doesn’t want to come between two brothers. “For the record,” she adds, “I think you’re both totally fun, not to mention smokin’ hot!”
Once John’s brainwashing has been dealt with, he and Marlena look forward to going home where things are a little slower… when not dealing with things like possession!
Kayla and Steve visit Stephanie at the hospital. With her about to be released, they feel that they can go back to Salem.
Only moments later, Stephanie receives a text which leaves her smiling… and suggesting that she might be heading back to Salem sooner than expected!
Tripp and Joey may have told one another that they were fine with Wendy giving them both the brush-off, but the text messages each brother sends her indicate that she could have a long-distance love triangle on her hands!
What they went through over the past few days clearly having brought Wendy and Li closer, she is surprised when he and Gabi present her with a well-earned promotion!
Andrew swings by to see Paul, supposedly to return his gym clothes. But there is obviously an attraction between them… as evidenced by the kiss they share after promising to stay in touch.
As Ciara and Hope say farewell at the docks, Ben turns on the radio. Hope smiles and seems to have flashes of her time in heaven when her and Bo’s song plays.
Megan approaches the cryogenic tube and tells the doctor that with the three prisms having been united, the person she’s worked so hard to resurrect should soon come back to her. After all, they are supposedly able to cure brain tumors. The doctor says she will need to be patient.
In heaven, Angela tells Bo that she has incredible news. Although it’s never, ever happened before, he’s being given a second second chance! What, he asks, does that mean?
After everyone leaves the lab, the door of the tube opens, the smoke clears… and we see that inside the chamber is not Stefano, as we’d assumed, but Bo, who opens his eyes!
