The year didn’t get off to a great start for The Bold and the Beautiful’s Liam and Hope. Thanks to Thomas’ goading, Steffy’s lips and some well-timed traffic lights, Hope arrived just in time to see her hubby kissing his favorite ex. Rather than admit it was a set-up, Steffy sat back and watched as Hope booted Liam to the curb.

Capitalizing on the bond between son Douglas and an emotionally vulnerable Hope, Thomas courted Zoe as part of his twisted plan to make Liam’s ex-wife his current one. How far was Thomas willing to take things? All the way to the altar, where Hope exposed his game by showing up in a wedding dress — claiming to have had a change of heart — and getting the jerk to dump would-be bride Zoe!
To Die For

About to lose both her man and her job, Sally began feeling majorly stressed. Even Eric offering that lovely desk lamp as part of her Forrester severance package didn’t help. A trip to the doctor’s office also didn’t help since it was there that she learned she wasn’t just exhausted and needy, she was dying.

As fate would have it, Katie was by Sally’s side (literally, as you can see) when the designer received her death sentence. Sally all but pinky-swore Katie to keep silent, not wanting anyone to feel sorry for her. Turns out, Sally shoulda gotten the pinky-swear, because Katie kept the secret approximately 12 minutes before telling everyone.

As it turned out, Sally wasn’t so much ailing as she was dying to hold on to Wyatt, who was planning to dump her for high-school sweetheart Flo. The redhead’s ill-conceived plan? Make Wyatt feel so bad for her that he’d not only stay by her side but have one last pity-induced, baby-making romp after which she’d “miraculously” go into remission.

Rather than have Sally’s scheme — and her role in it — exposed, doc Penny knocked Flo out so her rival could chain her to a radiator! Fortunately, Wyatt clued in to Sally’s plan to create an anchor baby before she could use it to tie him down forever. Soon after, Sally left town, later resurfacing in The Young and the Restless‘ Genoa City.
Blonde Ambition

Clearly in the mood for something different, Ridge found himself drawn to a woman who was nothing like Brooke. Shauna was a blonde from the wrong side of the tracks who… now that we think about it, she was basically Brooke 2.0. Unfortunately for Shauna, O.G. Brooke wasn’t ready to simply hand over her “destiny.”
Oops! They Did It Again

Sometimes, a kiss is just a kiss… unless, as happened with Brooke and Bill, it’s caught on video… and then played at a party. And not just any party, but one celebrating Brooke and Ridge having moved past their latest marital difficulties. Awkward!

With Brooke’s latest indiscretion exposed, Ridge opted to fly not off the handle but off to Vegas, where he got drunk and married Shauna. Only later did it come out that his new bride had worked with Quinn to trick the groom into divorcing his former wife. Quicker than you could say “wife swap,” Brooke had regained her title as Mrs. Ridge Forrester.

Brooke’s fight to keep Shauna away from Ridge led to an epic showdown… but not between the blondes. Instead, after Brooke slapped her romantic rival, Quinn stepped up to defend her BFF. Hitting Ridge’s estranged wife so hard that she was knocked off her feet, Quinn roared, “Stephanie taught you to slap? Bitch, you should have learned that from me!” We can’t help but think the late Forrester matriarch would have been proud. And possibly envious.
Get the Point?

After Bill accidentally plowed into a motorcycle-riding Steffy, she developed an addiction to pain pills that led her to pull a switchblade — yes, a switchblade — on concerned family members. On the plus side, she emerged from the world’s quickest rehab with a sexy new beau in Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan.

After overhearing Quinn and Shauna discussing how they’d manipulated Brooke and Ridge, Katie lived up to her previously-established role as local tattletail. Once Eric heard what his wife had done, he showed her the door… although she probably didn’t need him to do so literally. She did live there!
‘Coffee? Tea? Engagement Ring?’

Despite the challenges presented by social distancing, Carter got so close to Zoe that they became engaged in record time, even by Bold & Beautiful standards. But all that space between them left room for a newly-returned Zende to catch Zoe’s eye.

At any company other than Forrester Creations, the sparks flying between designer Zende and model Zoe would have led to HR reports and many, many seminars. Instead, the two silently smoldered even as her sister, Paris, hoped to ignite a flame in his heart.
Two Hopes, No Waiting

After hitting his head at the office, Thomas became obsessed with a mannequin designed to look exactly like Hope. Long before the plastic doppelganger began urging Thomas to kill Liam and make Hope his own, this had become our favorite story of the year. Unfortunately, it ultimately resulted in our least favorite twist…
Once More, With Feeling

Remember how the year started with Steffy and Liam kissing? Well, it went out with a bang after Liam saw Thomas macking on the mannequin, assumed it was Hope (no, really) and had drunken sex with Steffy. Although Liam wanted to come clean to his wife, Steffy urged him to keep silent. Not quite grasping the concept, he insisted upon discussing the situation whenever he and Steffy crossed paths.
Hope for the Future

Shortly after kissing the mannequin, Thomas collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. Following life-saving surgery, he no longer seemed delusional… unless you count admitting to dad Ridge that he still loved Hope, always would and dreamed of them someday having a happy ending.
Happily Never After

As 2020 prepared to exit, things were largely back to normal for the extended Forrester clan. Eric and Quinn as well as Brooke and Ridge had reunited in equally undramatic fashon (which, frankly, didn’t make for great soap). Hope was happily proving that ignorance (of one’s spouse’s infidelity) is bliss. Bill and Katie were… er, wherever they spent most of the year, given that they were rarely seen. But just beneath the surface lurked a sense that with the new year would come new drama.
