In Tripp’s hospital room, Kayla reports that Tripp is almost completely healed. Ava asks for a word with her in private. In the hall, Ava apologizes to Kayla for her behavior when she thought she lost Tripp. She thanks her for saving her son and for being so gracious.

Kayla returns to Steve and Tripp and explains Ava just wanted to apologize to her and then had somewhere to go. Tripp tells them about his visit with Allie who admitted she still loves him, but she also loves Chanel. However, he wants to be with someone who loves him and only him. He urges them to go home and get something to eat. He’ll be fine by himself.

Worried about Tripp being alone and sad, Steve and Kayla bring him pizza.

At The Bistro, Gabi and Li drink champagne while making several toasts to their big boardroom win. Jake arrives for Gabi’s signature on some papers and Li invites him to join their celebration. Jake and Gabi eye other and Jake declines. After he leaves, Li questions the tension between Gabi and Jake. Gabi assures him there will be no issues in the office. She knows how to keep her personal and professional life separate. He says that’s good to know and touches her hand. She pulls away and suggests they order more champagne. He suggests going back to his hotel for a nightcap instead. He apologizes for being forward, but she’s fine with it. He admits he’s attracted to her. She reciprocates and asks for the check.

In Li’s Salem Inn room, he and Gabi toast again before she moves in for a kiss. She backs away, worried about people at DiMera talking. Li didn’t think she was the type who worried about office gossip. She says, “What the hell. Let them talk.” They make out while undressing and fall to the bed.

After sex, Gabi rolls over in bed with a fading smile.

An agitated Jake returns home to Ava who hands him a beer. She relays that Tripp is going to be okay and thanks him for being there for her. Ava makes them dinner, which Jake compliments, along with her company. She says she could get used to this, and he leans in for a kiss. She loosens his tie as she assures him she’s wanted this for a long time. They kiss more passionately and move to the bed.

Afterward, Jake holds Ava in bed and looks off pensively.

Rafe bends on one knee in front of Nicole at her apartment. She sits on the couch agape, holding a stuffed bear.

In her apartment, a shocked Nicole pulls out a diamond ring from Duke’s pocket. Rafe gets on one knee and says, “Nicole Stella Walker, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” When she hesitates, he wonders if it’s because of Eric. She reminds him they are divorced and Eric’s loyalty is to God. Her loyalty is to Rafe and only Rafe. She assures him she’s not pining for Father Brady. She will always care about him, but she’s not in love with him.

Rafe admits he was thrown by Eric staying in Salem, but he bought the ring a while back. He wants to spend his life with her, but if it’s too soon, they can keep things the way they are. He starts to put the ring away, but she stops him. She calls him a wonderful man. He makes her feel special and needed and valued. She knows and trusts him, and Holly adores him. Not to mention, she’s in love with him. This is everything she ever wanted, so… will he ask her that question again? Rafe obliges and she eagerly says yes. “I can’t wait to be your wife,” she declares and kisses him. He slides on the ring and says, “I’m the luckiest man in the world.” She tells him he’s about to get even luckier. He picks her up and carries her to the bedroom.

From the Brady Pub bar, Roman and Kate notice Eric passing through. As they discuss the situation with Sarah, the Vatican calls Eric. After hanging up, Eric relays that the church is taking steps to remove him from the priesthood. Kate assumes it’s because Sarah’s shacking up in his room, but Eric declares it’s because of his two unauthorized exorcisms. Roman is so sorry, but Kate thinks there’s a silver lining. Since he’s no longer a priest, maybe he can reunite with Nicole. Eric snipes at her, but Roman backs his lady up. Eric could have another chance with the love of his life. Eric needs a minute to process this. Besides, Nicole has moved on. Kate points out that Nicole doesn’t realize she has other options. Roman assures his son he’s a good man before heading upstairs with Kate.

Alone in the Pub, Eric sits at the bar and stares at the martini Kate left behind. He moves it aside and somberly looks off.
