Xander Thanks a Very Confused Susan For Opening His Eyes, While Sami Makes a Break For It
Tuesday, November 30, 2021: Today on Days of Our Lives, Sami leaps into action, Kristen puts a team together, and Gwen worries Xander will find out the truth about Sarah.
In the interrogation room, Chad tells Kristen the judge won’t let her stay there until her trial. She’s headed back to Statesville. Chad orders her not to try and escape again. She promises. She’ll just hire more lawyers to appeal. She asks him to get her something to eat before she’s transferred. When he steps out of the room, Kristen grabs the phone out of his jacket.
Gwen wakes up in bed and sees Xander packing to go find Sarah. She asks what about them? He says, “There is no us. Not any more,” and leaves. Gwen jolts awake in bed next to Xander, who asks what’s wrong. They have sex, and then Gwen checks her phone, hoping for a message from Jack. She sighs when she doesn’t find one.
Xander heads to the shower, as Gwen gets a call from Kristen. The jailbird threatens to tell Xander about Sarah unless Gwen breaks her out of jail. Panicked, Gwen says she would help her in a heartbeat, but she doesn’t know to do something like that. Kristen will get her some help.
Ava and Rafe kiss in bed until he says he has to get to work. She says she needs to find a job herself — this time with no threats or blackmail. He grins and says that’s a good plan. She is grateful he gave her another chance after trying to steal Gabi’s company.
After Rafe has left, Kristen calls Ava. She needs a favor, but Ava won’t jeopardize her life with Rafe. Kristen threatens to tell him about the last time she helped her escape, so here’s what she needs to do…
Chad returns to the interrogation room as Kristen deletes her call from his phone’s log. He’s outraged, but she lies that she was trying to call Brady.
Xander gets back in bed as Gwen lies about talking to Chad on the phone. She says he was berating her for what she did to his family. Xander thinks Chad should move on because he still has the love of his life — unlike some people. Gwen wonders if he’s talking about himself. Xander assures her he’s not. He’s moved on from Sarah. She looks concerned.
Later, Ava knocks on Gwen’s door. She says she’s her new partner in crime.
EJ sits by a sleeping Susan’s hospital bed. He tears up and says he’s sorry for everything. Nicole comes in to check on him, noting he looks terrible. He explains that Susan was too scared of the devil coming back, so he stayed with her all night. Nicole asks if Susan had another psychotic break. He leads her away to talk in the hallway.
In the lobby, EJ recounts Susan’s ordeal to Nicole. He thought it was a delusion at first, but Steve believed Susan’s version of events. After all the years he’s been ashamed of her, Susan was still willing to sacrifice her life for his. He tears up as she says he doesn’t deserve it. Nicole holds him. He composes himself, embarrassed she saw him blubbering. Nicole points out his vulnerability just makes him human, and more attractive. He points out that didn’t get him far with Sami. She thinks it’s odd he hasn’t heard from Sami considering she was desperate to reconcile. He blames himself for pushing her away. He was cruel — and not just when he found out about Lucas. He was emotionally abusive toward his wife for a year.
EJ points out Susan is still full of love after her trauma, but he didn’t want anyone around while he was recuperating. Sami fought for him long after he had given up on life and he was a monster to her. He’s grateful for everything she did for him, but she doesn’t know that because he told her to stay away — and she has. Nicole says it sounds like he regrets it. He assures her he doesn’t regret anything after Sami cheated on him. She’s gone and he’s moving on. He holds Nicole’s hands and thanks her for checking on him. He also thanks for her just listening, and not scolding him for his past behaviors. He’s where he wants to be. She is too.
Susan wakes up in her hospital bed to Xander standing at her bedside with flowers. He wanted to thank her for opening his eyes to his unfaithful fiancée, but Susan has no idea what he’s talking about.
In her dingy room, Sami bangs on the door to be let out. Jason, her guard, opens it. He tells her there’s no breakfast today until he gets back the phone that she stole. If she doesn’t hand it over, he’ll do something a lot worse than just deprive her of food. Sami reluctantly hands it over, while begging him to let her get back to the people she loves. He shrugs her off and charges the phone so he can find out who she called. She fesses up to calling her mother, who was indisposed, and her husband, but the phone died. Jason’s read the tabloids, he knows EJ dumped her. Sami assures him EJ would still pay a ransom for her. Jason retorts that his employer isn’t interested in money. Sami begs to know who it is. Jason repeats that she’ll never get that information out of him.
Later, Jason brings Sami a tray of food. Sami takes everything off the tray and bashes him over the head with it. She runs out of the room.
