Steve and Kayla’s Suspicions Grow After ‘Marlena’ Pops In For a Visit — Plus, Belle Helps Julie Get Her Wish on Thanksgiving

Shawn and Belle come to see Julie on Thanksgiving. Julie asks if there’s any news about Doug. Belle tells her she filed a motion to rescind Marlena’s power of attorney. However, they probably won’t hear until Monday because of the long holiday weekend. Shawn consoles Julie, as Belle gets on the phone. After hanging up, Belle reports they got a compassionate judge who didn’t want to wait to rule. Julie officially has medical power of attorney and can see Doug today. Julie tearfully embraces Belle and then excitedly prepares to see her husband. However, she still has a lot to still do for Thanksgiving dinner. Belle sends Shawn off with Julie, while she finishes preparations.

Steve comes home to find Kayla making a pie. He reports he was sent on a wild goose chase looking for John. MarDevil drops by to apologize for not responding to their messages. Steve glares at “Marlena.” She explains how busy she’s been with work and tells them about Abe’s explosive wedding. Steve gets up to give Abe a call. “Marlena” glibly calls him a good friend. Kayla asks “Marlena” to let Julie see Doug today. “Marlena” is sorry, but she can’t help. Steve asks her to help him then, to find John. “Marlena” insists she doesn’t have any idea where he is, but she has to respect that he’s working. She knows he will come back to her. They question her blasé attitude, but she says they have to trust in a higher power. After “Marlena” leaves, Kayla asks if Steve buys any of that. Steve shakes his head and says, “Not a word.” Kayla leaves to see Julie, confirming she’ll see Steve at the Pub later.

Kayla finds Belle at Horton House and learns Julie can finally see Doug. They share their concerns over “Marlena’s” lack of compassion and wonder what’s happened to her. Julie exuberantly returns. Shawn follows her, wheeling in Doug who sits in a wheelchair.

Allie runs into Tripp with Henry in front of Sweet Bits. Tripp shows her a Thanksgiving picture they drew. Allie notes Henry didn’t get his artistic ability from her, which leads them to talk about Charlie. Tripp confirms Rafe exhumed his grave and he’s there, undisturbed. They move on to discussing Thanksgiving plans, which is so jam-packed, Tripp makes a spreadsheet.

Chanel startles awake in bed with Johnny. She had a nightmare that Paulina had a heart attack, after confronting her about the wedding. He knows Chanel did what she thought was best at the wedding, and commiserates over having complicated mothers. However, he says, they have to lead their own lives and not feel guilty about it. Chanel wishes they could stay there forever so she wouldn’t have to face her family. Johnny doesn’t know about forever, but they could have one heck of a nice day, considering he lives in a mansion with servants. They passionately kiss.

As they canoodle after having sex, Johnny suggests Chanel run away to Italy with him. Allie can run the bakery, and he can work on the movie while they’re on vacation. It’ll just be a couple of weeks. She thanks him for doing this for her and they kiss.

At home, Olivia and Paulina rehash the events of the wedding. Olivia wonders why her daughter couldn’t have left well enough alone. Paulina said she followed her heart by falling in love with Abe, but Olivia thinks she needs to start following her head. Paulina can’t believe her mother wants to give her a lecture rather than a hug when she’s at her lowest. Olivia moves close to hug her, assuring her daughter she loves her.

Later, Paulina finds Olivia dressed to leave. Olivia explains she was invited to Lani’s for Thanksgiving. Aghast, Paulina points out she was part of the lie too. Olivia doesn’t understand it either, but suggests she reach out to Chanel. Paulina wonders how Chanel could possibly have known her secret. Olivia knows it was that woman, Marlena Evans. She recounts “Marlena” having a smug look on her face, like she already knew Paulina was Lani’s mother. Paulina admits she told her. Olivia gets a message that her ride is there for dinner. Before leaving, she reiterates that “Marlena” is no damn good.

Later, Chanel sneaks into the apartment to grab her passport. Paulina glares and says, “Well. Look what the cat dragged in.”

Outside the crypt, MarDevil mulls over what to do with John and Susan. She pulls out a knife and says it’s time to kill two birds with one stone.
