Johnny Helps Chanel Get Into Character — Plus, MarDevil Gets Creative After Susan Discovers the Truth

When Paulina fusses too much over Abe at the hospital, he asks what’s going on with her. She says she’s worried about his health and suggests they postpone the wedding. Abe insists he’s fine. She flashes to “Marlena” advising she confess the truth about being Lani’s mother. Abe points out that he almost died. It reminded him not to take one minute for granted. So, next week, he wants to stand up in front of god, their families, and friends, and marry her. There’s nothing that will stop him from doing that unless she doesn’t want that. Paulina wants that more than anything in the world. However, she has an errand to run right now.

Lani and Theo sit in the lobby together. Lani worries how Chanel feels about her being Paulina’s matron of honor. They also discuss how happy they are to be brother and sister. Nothing can change that. They hug, as a guilty-looking Paulina walks up.

Chanel meets with Johnny outside of Sweet Bits. He gives her a wig for her Celeste character and a stack of Tarot Cards. Chanel winces. Johnny says she has to believe in it, just like Celeste did.

With the wig on, Chanel and Johnny run lines. Theo walks up and says with a smile, “Grandma? Is that you?” Chanel’s mouth hangs open. He heard from Chad she’s playing his grandmother and offers to help with her creole accent. Theo then asks Chanel to talk to Lani who feels weird about being Paulina’s matron of honor.

Chanel shows up at the hospital and assures Lani she’s fine with her being Paulina’s matron of honor. Lani recounts how serious Paulina was when she came to the apartment to ask her to stand up for her, but Eli interrupted with news about Abe getting shot. Chanel flashes to Paulina saying she only asked as a distraction after Abe was shot. Lani asks how Chanel feels about it. Chanel curtly says it’s Paulina’s day. It’s obviously what her mother wants and it’s all about making her happy.

At home, Ben and Ciara try to figure out who could want to harm their child. As Ben comforts his wife, Shawn and Belle knock on the door. They’re there to congratulate them on the baby, but detect something’s going on with Ciara. She tells them about Susan’s visit. Belle’s incensed she would scare a pregnant woman, but Ben defends Susan’s visions. He says Susan fainted upon touching Ciara’s belly, so he went to Marlena for help. Belle thinks if anyone can talk sense into Susan, it’s her mom.

Ben and Ciara bring out beer and wine for a toast, Ciara assures her brother they can handle Susan in their own way. Shawn is happy to butt out. When Ciara expresses her jubilation, yet terror over being a mother, Belle recommends a book. After the Westons leave to get it, Belle suggests she and Shawn visit Marlena to see what’s going on with Susan.

As Theo and Johnny sit at a table in the Square, he sees Ben and Ciara walking through. They make awkward pleasantries until Theo sees Ciara’s pregnancy book. He squints and says, “You guys are having a baby?”

In John and Marlena’s living room, MarDevil grabs Susan’s arm. Susan trembles and says, “You’re the one who’s after the baby.” “Marlena” lets her go, calling her claim ridiculous. Susan knows she is not Marlena, but the devil incarnate. MarDevil flashes her yellow eyes at Susan and says, “You’re right.” MarDevil warns she will unleash the full force of her powers and there’s nothing Susan or anyone can do to stop her. Susan cowers. She tries to flee, but the door won’t open. Susan pulls out a cross from her bag and holds it out to MarDevil, who scoffs. MarDevil grabs the cross and hits Susan in the head with it.

Susan passes out on the floor behind the couch, as Paulina knocks on the door. “Marlena” invites her in. Paulina declares she can’t confess her secret. She can’t do that to Abe or Lani. As “Marlena” tries to convince her it’s for the best, Paulina hears Susan moan. Paulina follows the sound and walks behind the couch. She says, “Oh my goodness.” “Marlena” joins her and picks up a black cat, named Susan. “Marlena” says she’s not doing well and may have to put her down. Paulina leaves after “Marlena” promises not to tell anyone her secret.

Alone with the cat, MarDevil says it’s easier to keep Susan in this form. MarDevil picks her up to take her for a ride. When “Marlena” opens the door, Shawn and Belle are standing there. They say they’re looking for Susan. “Marlena” says she’s taking this stray cat to the shelter and saunters off, leaving Belle and Shawn looking confused.

Paulina returns to the hospital and sees Chanel, who storms off.
