Soaps.com is saddened to announce that soap vet, Edward Mallory (ex-Bill Horton, Days of Our Lives) has passed on due to a lengthy illness. The type illness has not yet been released. Mallory was born June 14, 1930 and passed on Tuesday April 4 in Cumberland Maryland.

Mallory played Dr. Bill Horton from 1966- 1980 and later became a daytime director. He directed Days of Our Lives, All My Children, The Young and the Restless and General Hospital in the 1990’s and then moved on to producing.

Before his long term role on Days, Mallory played parts on television shows such as ‘McHale’s Navy’, ‘The Munsters’ and ‘Bewitched’, and portrayed a bit part in the well known jailbird movie, ‘Birdman of Alcatraz’.
Mallory was an Artist in Residence at Frostburg State University in Maryland. He is survived by another daytime vet, and ex-wife, Suzanne Zenor (who portrayed daughter-in-law Margo Anderman Horton from 1977-1980) son John Mallory Asher (with Joyce Bulifant), and grandson Evan.
