Days Alum Shelley Hennig Lands Role in ‘Crazy for You’ Surrounding the Ever-Changing Dating Scene

Single camera comedy comes from Saturday Night Live alums and executive producer.
Shelley Hennig (Stephanie Johnson, Days of our Lives) has been cast in the lead role of the NBC pilot Crazy for You. The single-camera comedy revolves around a sweet assistant at a publishing company named Daisy (Hennig) who finds things have changed quite a bit as she re-enters the world of dating. Needing a refresher on how to act on first dates, she’ll rely on her friends to help her navigate the “quick-to-dismiss dating culture.” Soaps.com can share that Alice Lee (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) has been cast as Daisy’s ambitious co-worker Emma, Nick Cafero (Black-ish) will play Emma’s nice-guy boyfriend Ethan, and Tiana Okoye (The Good Place) has been tapped to play one of Daisy’s best friends Tasha.

The comedy comes from Universal TV, Broadway Video and Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions. Saturday Night Live’s executive producer Lorne Michaels and the sketch show’s former performer and writer Seth Meyers will executive produce, along with Mike Shoemaker Andrew Singer, Hilary Marx, and Jason Carden. SNL’s former producer Rachele Lynn, who was also a writer for Silicon Valley and Baskets, will co-executive produce and write.
Hennig posted the news on Instagram saying, “@rlynn1823 is dragging me out of retirement AND I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER OMG.” Hennig’s former Days of our Lives co-star Molly Burnett (Melanie Jonas; ex-Maxie Jones, General Hospital) responded with, “THATS MY FKING SUPERSTAR.” Since leaving Days of our Lives in 2017, Hennig has played a recurring character in MTV’s rebooted Teen Wolf series and appeared in several episodes of Complex Network/Go90’s Liberty Crossing and Hulu’s Dollface, which she last aired on in November 2019. The actress also appeared in the 2018 movies The After Party, co-starring Blair Underwood (Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker; Bobby Blue, One Life to Live), and When We First Met, co-starring Adam Devine (The Righteous Gemstones and Robbie Amell (The Flash).
