Tamara Price returns to Salem for her daughter’s wedding.
As Soaps.com previously reported, Marilyn McCoo returns as Tamara Price to Days of our Lives November 1 for a short visit along with Billy Davis Jr., who just happens to be McCoo’s real-life husband. The duo will return for a special episode – a Salem wedding.
Marilyn McCoo began her first appearance on Days of our Lives as Tamara Price, on August 21, 1986. She had ties to Salem as a college roommate of Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall). Tamara surprised Marlena by turning up for Marlena and John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) wedding on August 22. While in traffic, Tamara cut off John’s best friend and best man, Abe Carver (James Reynolds) with her car while rushing to the wedding so she and Abe got off on the wrong foot. Once at the wedding, Tamara sang Up Where We Belong before John and Marlena said their vows. After the wedding, it was revealed that Tamara was running away from a mysterious man from her past named Coleman. During her time in Salem she was able to get a job singing at Blondie’s. That didn’t sit well with Liz Chandler (Gloria Loring) who was their original singer and Liz left town soon after.
Eventually, Abe and Tamara began to date until Coleman found her and asked her to come back to him. Abe had Coleman investigated and it turned out the man was married and not interested in leaving his wife. This made it extra shocking when Tamara revealed to Abe suddenly that she would be leaving Salem – with Coleman. She left on May of 1987. Of course, little did Abe know, she was carrying his child.
Several years later, Lani Price, Abe and Tamara’s daughter, appeared in Salem. Friday September 25, 2015 Lani appeared as police cadet joining the Salem PD. She was intrigued by the town mayor, Abe Carver who noticed immediately that her eyes were just like her mother’s. When he saw photos of Tamara on Lani’s computer, he questioned Lani who admitted Tamara Price was her mother and that he was her father. Through some ups and downs, Abe and Lani forged a relationship and when Lani and Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) became engaged to be married November 1, Lani’s mother Tamara returns to Salem after 32 years to witness her daughter’s wedding.
