Days of our Lives actor has a hand in bringing Scholastic News to elementary school.

It’s always wonderful to see what the soap opera actors do outside of daytime television, especially through charity work and donations. Soaps.com came across a Twitter post that showed appreciation for Days of our Lives’ Thaao Penghlis, who has played Andre and Tony DiMera on the NBC soap on and off since 1981.

Second grade elementary school teacher KristenP tweeted on Sunday September 15, “Good morning @ThaaoPenghlis! We read our first Scholastic News flyer last week and the kids loved it! Thanks again for your generous donation.” Accompanied with her tweet was a photo of what appears to be around twenty second graders covering their faces with the first Scholastic News flyer that their teacher was thanking Penghlis for in the way of his donation.

Penghlis made his return to Days of our Lives as Tony DiMera back in August. Recently, the actor shared photos through his official Instagram page surrounding time spent in New Mexico at the Borderscene Film Festival, which took place from September 6 through the 9. In fact, the actor, along with Harry Hamlin (husband of Days of our Lives alum Lisa Rinna, Billie Reed), took home a Lifetime Achievement Award for his years in the industry. Of the event, Penghlis stated, “In New Mexico at the Borderscene Film Festival with the lovely & talented Maria Infantino. Tomorrow Harry Hamlin & I receive The Lifetime Achievement Award. Thank you all for being part of this celebration.” He went on to post a photo from the desert and shared, “Taking a break from the festival. Into the stark desert of New Mexico. Tonight is the award ceremony. Magic time @ the Borderscene Film Festival.”
