Days of our Lives actress lands new primetime role following daytime exit.

Updated September 18: In a just-released promo for The CW’s All American, which you can watch here on Soaps.com, Days of our Lives’ Olivia Rose Keegan (Claire Brady) is briefly featured. Keegan’s episode is set to air on October 14, with the show’s premiere on October 7.

On August 10, Soaps.com reported that Days of our Lives’ Olivia Rose Keegan, who just recently wrapped up the role of Claire Brady on the NBC soap opera, has booked an episode on the upcoming second season of The CW’s All American. The primetime drama, which debuted in the fall of 2018, was inspired by former NFL player Spencer Paysinger. Paysinger grew up in South-Central L.A. but commuted to play high school football in Beverly Hills through a cultural exchange program, eventually becoming the team’s captain. After college, he went on to play in the NFL for seven years as a linebacker for the New York Giants, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers.

All American centers on Spencer James (Daniel Ezra, The Missing) who is a rising high school American football player from South L.A. and is recruited to play for Beverly Hills High. The drama highlights the wins, losses and struggles of two families from vastly different worlds, Crenshaw and Beverly Hills, which begin to collide, mixing high school football games with gang wars. The show was created by April Blair and addresses issues such as race, class and identity. Serving as an inspiration to the show was not only Paysinger’s life, but previous television dramas such as Friday Night Lights and The O.C. The cast includes Taye Diggs (How Stella Got Her Groove Back) as Billy Baker, the coach for Beverly Hills High’s football team and the one who recruits Spencer. Karimah Westbrook (Shameless) plays Spencer’s mother Grace James, who has a past connection with Diggs’ character and it’s revealed they had a one night stand years ago. Jalyn Hall plays Spencer’s younger brother Dillon James, and possibly is the son of Diggs’ character Coach Baker. Samantha Logan (13 Reasons Why) plays Diggs’ daughter on the show, Olivia Baker, and Michael Evans Behling plays her brother Jordan Baker (Empire), who is the quarterback for Beverly High and takes Spencer under his wing.

When it first premiered on The CW the ratings for All American were lukewarm at best, though it gained a strong and loyal following. The first season was picked up for rebroadcast on Netflix, where it earned more followers, leading to the CW renewing it in April for a second season, set to premiere on October 7. Rose will play Emma in the second episode of the second season, which should air on October 14. Soaps.com will continue to follow the story as more information becomes available about her character and the episode.
