Chad and Abigail in Paris.

Soaps.com was contacted over the weekend with news of Days of our Lives’ exciting new venture. Beginning August 1, The DOOL App will begin airing companion episodes to complement what viewers see every day on the air. Kate Mansi (Abigail Deveraux DiMera) and Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) will kick things off with an eight-episode arc titled Chad and Abby in Paris. The six – ten-minute episodes will be available on the NBC app and the NBC website a week following their initial release.

The first season of Days of our Lives: The Digital Series will focus on Chad and Abby in Paris before they return to Salem in the fall. Austin Reed (Austin Peck) will also be making an appearance, as the preview clip below sees Abby answering the door to her former obsession. Viewers will remember that during Carrie Brady’s (Christie Clark) recent visit home, she had sex with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) upon revealing her marriage was over. So, what does a newly single Austin want with Abby, the woman who once tricked him into thinking they had sex? That remains to be seen, but if the photos are any indication, it looks like he proceeds to make himself at home at the DiMera’s Parisian maison. We also know a character named Juliet (Rachele Schank) will figure into the series.

“This new scripted digital series was created to complement storylines while enhancing the viewers’ experience as they watch the broadcast show,” said Greg Meng, co-executive producer of Days of our Lives. “The DOOL App serves as our platform for delivering this and other original content to fans who want an interactive and multimedia experience as well as a way to stay connected to the show. Days has been a leader when it comes to innovation, going as far back as 1965 when we were the first to broadcast in color.”
