Victoria Konefal’s excitement over the Daytime Emmys is contagious.

Getting nominated for a Daytime Emmy for the first time was an exciting experience for Days of our Lives star Victoria Konefal, but it was even better that she was able to share it with her best friend and co-star, Olivia Rose Keegan. Both were nominated in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category — Konefal for her roles as Ciara Brady and Keegan for her role as Claire Brady. It truly was a special moment for the two of them. “Olivia Keegan actually called me and she told me about it. She happens to be my best friend in the entire world, so we were just so excited for each other,” Konefal told Soaps.com in a recent interview. “We kept saying that we couldn’t have written it better ourselves because both of us are on the show. We both get nominated. We celebrated all day. It was amazing!”

The duo acknowledged their accomplishment in the best way possible — shopping, food, and drinks.

“We went thrift shopping because that’s one of our favorite things to do. So we went to Wasteland [a Los Angeles thrift shop] and did a little bit of shopping,” she shared. “Her family got us a bottle of champagne and then took us out to dinner.”

Keegan’s family has been very supportive of Konefal. In fact, it was Keegan’s mother who pushed her into getting that Daytime Emmys submission reel in on time.

“I was five seconds away from not submitting because I was so overwhelmed with the Emmys reel process. I had a lot of help from my amazing publicist, Jessica [Katz] as well as Olivia’s mom,” Konefal revealed. “I was having a lot of technical problems and I’m a procrastinator. These things don’t really add up to an easy submission. So I was trying to put the pieces together and then my computer stopped working for me so I had to rush to Olivia’s house.”

When it came to finding the right scenes to put together on her reel, Konefal wanted to demonstrate her range as an actress.

“I submitted what I thought I was best in. There were a lot of conflicting opinions on which scenes I should go for and I ended up choosing one of the scenes that I did with Galen [Gering] when I first started filming the show,” she said. “It was about three months into my filming on Days. I tried to pick themes that contrasted each other and showed off my best work.”

Now that Konefal is two years into the role as Ciara and she has a Daytime Emmys nomination under her belt, it’s fun for her to look back on the journey she’s had so far. She even has great advice for her younger self on that first day she started on Days of our Lives.

“I would tell myself to cool it and not be so nervous,” she laughed. “I was incredibly nervous for the first couple of months and it was without reason because everyone on set was so amazing. I was really intimidated by the level of proficiency that these actors I’m working with possess. I would tell myself, ‘Relax, you did it, you’re here, enjoy it. Stop freaking out.’”

The Daytime Emmys are five weeks away and Konefal is already giving some thought to her red carpet look for the big day.

“We’re taking it nice and slow. I’m trying not to put too much stress on myself. I’ve been looking for a gown,” Konefal confided. “The gown is the most important thing to me at this point. I’ve been keeping my eyes open.”

Fans should keep their eyes on one perfect detail that Konefal is thinking about donning for her Daytime Emmys look. It’s something that will keep her happy all night long.

“I’m about 10 seconds away from wearing sneakers at the Emmys, honestly,” she said. “I’ll wear a big ball gown that hides my feet so I can just wear the sneakers and can be as comfortable as possible.”

The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Soaps.com will be hosting on the red carpet as usual, and we’ll be watching along with the fans and dishing on social media.
