Alison Sweeney confirms Days of our Lives return
Sami Brady is headed home to Salem.
Soaps.com has learned that Alison Sweeney is returning to “Days of our Lives” and the role of Sami Brady. Alison Sweeney left Days of our Lives on Thursday October 30, 2014 after playing the part of Sami Brady for 21 years. She made a brief return, only to leave again on November 17, 2015 after Sami attempted to flee captivity from a dark dungeon as Andre badgered Marlena about her daughter stealing his private property. This turn of events led Marlena to report to John that Andre had kidnapped Sami.
After leaving the show, Sweeney starred in and produced several movies for the Hallmark Channel, including her most recent one Murder She Baked: Just Desserts. Twice now Alison Sweeney has directed episodes of General Hospital when time permits.
There are currently no details yet on Sweeney’s return storyline or air dates. During an impromptu Instagram live feed today, Sweeney said she was looking forward to getting back into playing Sami, and joked that she’s missed crying a lot, slapping people and being slapped. Back in December while skiing, Sweeney suffered an accident and tore her ACL. While she’s been on the mend, she did say that it would be unlikely Sami would be wearing heels this time around when she comes to town. Sweeney also admitted she was excited to see how Days’ new head writer Ron Carlivati would write the character. She is scheduled to tape an extended return during the months of May and June to air sometime later this year.
